The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region
The Oliva Nova Beach resort is just 4kms south of the historic and busy market town of Oliva which provides many amenities. It is ideally located on the very Southern border of the Costa d’el Azahar / Orange Blossom Coast which then continues on to the Costa Blanca.
The Costa Azahar is still very much ‘Real Spain’ and its main industry is agriculture with the whole area overflowing with orange groves (the orange harvest is picked from September through to April) and Rice fields (Paella being the National dish). Thanks to this, International tourism is kept at bay, however our long coastline of sandy beaches does make our area the No. 1 destination for Spanish tourism.
The Costa Blanca on the other hand is full of tourist resorts and attractions and draws a strong international crowd. So whatever you fancy doing for the day, spending quiet moments in the country side, mountains, beaches with the locals and practicing your Spanish or heading south to the tourist resorts such as Denia and Benidorm for more entertainment and shopping, the apartment is conveniently situated for all.
Oliva is very fortunate to have a mild climate, there are practically 3000 hours of sunshine per year and the seawater temperature ranges from 13 degrees centigrade minimum in winter to 29 degrees maximum in summer. These temperatures really do provide an ideal year round climate. The gentleness of the climate here guarantees mild autumn and winter months and delightful spring and summer months. Further north the thermometers freeze up, further south the heat is unbearable.
Why not learn all about the attractions and activities this region has to offer during your holiday. The hospitality and easygoing character of the Valencian people will make you want to stay here. You will really need to try and speak some Spanish whilst here, and on doing so will be helped and admired by the friendly locals who amongst themselves speak Valencian, however will speak to foreigners in Castellano, and even try their hand at English.
The region offers a variety of Mediterranean type scenery, a breathtaking stretch of coastline with magnificent blue flag beaches and a rich culture reaching back to the dawn of time. Wide coastal plains and mountains towering up to almost 2,000 metres. 365 days of fiestas that everyone can enjoy, extensive tourist facilities on the coast, cities with everything you can ask for and quiet villages.
The rapidly changing city of Valencia is well worth a visit, approx. 75kms / 1hr drive or the train from Gandia is very cheap and takes about 45mins and takes you to the heart of the city. Rich in art and culture, home to The Hemisferic, part of Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences, which is one of Spain's most visited buildings. Shaped like an eye, The City of Arts and Sciences is Valencia's spectacular leisure and culture centre The huge complex consists of four futuristic structures.
The "Príncipe Felipe" Science Museum offers an interactive science experience. The Oceanografic is an enormous, ultra-modern aquarium. The Hemisferic is a film centre shaped like an eye and equipped with the latest in cutting-edge equipment and the Arts Palace is a multi-functional 2500-seat auditorium that hosts all manner of performances.
The region of Valencia has a mild climate, although it is a little colder inland than on the coast. There are practically 3000 hours of sunshine per year, and the seawater temperature ranges from 13 degrees centigrade minimum in winter to 29 degrees maximum in summer. These temperatures really do provide an ideal year round climate. The gentleness of the climate here guarantees mild winters and delightful springs. Further north the thermometers freeze up, further south the heat is unbearable. The orange harvest is picked from September through to April.
