About the home

Our fully air-conditioned Villa is registered and Licenced by the local Camara, it is set outside the village of Quelfes, near Olhao, 15mins from Faro, in a pleasant and tranquil area , nestling in the beautiful Algarvian countryside. The Villa has a secluded , illuminated, heated swimming pool in it’s own private, mature and well maintained garden,backed by a vineyard. The pool has a cover to retain heat , plus a lifebouy and stairgate to prevent small children accessing the pool on their own. The spiral staircase inside the turret leads to a third bedrom and ensuite, and a fully private sun drenched roof terrace which is not overlooked, so is an ideal spot for sunbathing ,there are also 3 other terraces .Steps to the left of the villa lead to the main entrance, but there is a wide path and gate to the right suitable for buggies with no steps.The villa has a large lounge with a wood burning stove and gas central heating plus air conditioning / heating for the winter months and a double bed settee, and is equipped to a high standard so that you want for nothing. There are loads of books,games and DVD's and a 32" flat screen satelite TV plus DVD player , CD player, radio and WiFi broadband access
Casa Roseira is an ideal spot for relaxing with family and friends and enjoying time together, either around the pool or under the shade sail, or enjoying a tasty BBQ. A welcome pack awaits your arrival with our compliments.
A number of maps and local information leaflets are available, including a very useful restuarant information book with advice and directions.

A circular turret staircase leads up to the third bedroom and ensuite, plus a fully private sun terrace, which is sun drenched all day.
The private pool is 8.2m x 3.5m ( heated in low season) with sunbathing terrace and loungers, a lifebouy and pool gate are in place for your safety.. A shade sail provides the opportunity to relax out of direect sunlight if you prefer.
There is also a built in Portuguese BBQ beside the eating area .All towels and bed linen are provided with full linen change once a week.
Beach towels are not provided so please bring your own. A car is essential as the nearest town, Olhao, and therefore the supermarket, is 5 mins away by car. A small shop in Quelfes itself provides essentials.

Further details outdoors:
On the front terrace there is a large stone table and benches , at the rear of the villa there are two tables and chairs close to the BBQ, sunloungers and umbrellas are close to the pool. A safety security gate is fiitted, which restricts acess to the pool for small children.A lifebouy is in place beside the pool. There are 4 bikes plus 2 helmets for your use and a number or pool toys as well

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The Algarve is a fantastic destination for those wanting to escape to a sunny paradise. The weather is warm, with days filled with sunshine and relaxation. Gorgeous beaches are close by with the nearest being Fuzeta and Pedras Del Rei which are 10mins and 15 mins away . There are over 17 championship golf courses in the Algarve and many other golf courses as well, the nearest is 3 mins away in Moncarapacho, the next village.

The Olhao / Quelfes area

Pronounced 'ol-ee-ow', Olhão is a busy modern town with a lovely waterfront and marina.. Its fishing port is the most important in the Eastern Algarve and its fish market is the biggest. It also has many shops, restaurants and a festival devoted entirely to sea food in August.. . Olhão is very Portuguese, very Algarvian and very un-touristic. The pedestrian shopping area winds in cobbled streets through the moorish-looking old town to the waterfront with its markets (fruit, veg, meat, deli as well as fish), with its cafe's, parks and sparkling views out over the Ria Formosa lagoons. From the pier, you can take boats to the island villages and beaches of Armona, Culatra and Farol - all great day trips. The official visitor centre for the Ria Formosa nature reserve is just outside Olhão. Its worth a visit to see the restored tidal mill (of which there were once many in the Ria Formosa),and the bird life.
During the Sea Food festival in August, half of the water front gardens are closed off and turned into a massive gastronomic and entertainment delight. The sea food is plentiful and excellent, the entertainment is top class and the organisation great. Its a hugely popular event and deservedly so. Don´t miss it if you are here at the time.

Horse riding, fishing and watersports are available everywhere in the Algarve but mainly in the bigger resorts. The nearest to Quelfes would be Faro and Villamoura. There are a selection of lovely restaurants in the town nearby, Olhao, as well as one in Quelfes itself.

“The best holiday ever - can't wait to go back- everything was good - Max (10)” We stayed at the villa for two weeks in August. We went as two families who are still really good friends!!! We pulled up outside and decided we must have the wrong place as it was a castle! It is very clean and very well equipped. It is obviously a well loved, lived in family holiday home.The beds were very comfy and the air con a must in August. The pool was an amazing 32 degrees and it was lovely to swim in the evening with the lights on. A car is a must. We fished from a boat (and shopped at the markets!) for our supper. Seafood, and fresh fruit and veg are a foodies dream. We all love to shop and cook and spend time together so was our ideal holiday. Loads of games and books so you won't need to take any. We had such an amazing time we have booked to go back next year already. Thankyou Noel and Sue we are counting down the days!

“Total relaxation in a great villa” This is the second time we have stayed in this villa but in between times the owners have added air con and a third bedroom with an en suite. The extra room has been added really well but fits in with the existing style of the property so you'd think it was always like this. The villa is really well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, sat TV and DVD's/books galore. It easily sleeps 7 and with 3 bathrooms you have plenty of space. There is also a travel cot and I think the ling room has a bed settee if you needed it. The pool is great and perfect for smaller children as it's not that long but it is around 6ft deep at one end so they need to be supervised. There is also a barbecue which we used a lot. There is not a lot in Quelfes but there are a lot of good restaurants nearby and the large town of Olhao is only 10 minutes away with everything you could possibly need. We took the boat rip from there to the island of Armona and saw terns and even a Chameleon. In fact there are great beaches all along the eastern coast line and just a shore ferry ride from Olhao or Santa Luzia. Tavira is also a nice town and only about 30 mins away. The couple that prepared the vilaa were also very helpful and as well as being well equipped it was spotlessly clean. If you want a quiet break giving total relaxation in a great villa, off resort with a lovely pool I don't think you could do much better. Oh and there were fresh figs for breakfast every day from the tree in the garden. Heaven. Response: It is always lovely to have a repeat guest, and even better as we had made several improvements such as Aircon and Solar, and built an ensuite bedroom extension which they thought was excellent and fitted in very well.In fact it really does look as if it was always there.For safety we have a lifbuoy and child gate to the pool area as we are aware of childrens curiosity !! but they definitely do need to be supervised. I'm delighted you had such a great holiday and look forward to maybe another visit in the future. Many thanks for such a good review.

“Nice Villa, good location” Charming Villa with a lot of good features like heated pool (Temp in Jan/Feb 29 C -after a good week of heating), A/C = heating, very nice sun roof, wi-fi, dishwasher, quiet (except dogs) and semi-rural location but close to Olhao ideal to explore the beautiful and not so touristy East Algarve. Helpful managers (and owners). Although the ground floor (incl. kitchen) and external aspects are showing it's age and can not really described as luxurious (rather rustic) it is good value for money and the owners have upgraded and modernized over time -still some work to be done. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing holiday. Response: Many thanks for your very positive review,I am delighted you has such a good holiday , we try hard to maintain our villa to high standards, as you mentioned we are always improving it.This summer 2012 we are updating the kitchen, this may have been the rustic look, and we will be installing PVC double glazed windows,these are already on order, this will eliminate noise from any dogs,which is occasional. The upstairs bedroom already has double glazing which is very effective.

“Wonderful Villa and Pool in quiet location” Enjoyed a wonderful week in this quiet location. The Villa with its personal pool is well furnished and extremely comfortable. You have your own secluded pool area with a nice combination of sunny and shady spots. Everything is extremely well maintained and provided to a high standard. All rooms have air-conditioning which was a big plus. The owners are very helpful and the local managers who look after the property are also very supportive. The villa is located in a quiet area which is untouristy but near enough to Faro and the airport to be extremely handy. Would recommend very highly and would love to return.. We too love the Eastern Algarve, and the villa is well sited for exploration and also visiting Spain. We continue to make improvements, this year it is double glazing to all the windows and doors which will make winter bookings very comfortable indeed.
