They say every man's home is his castle but this has never been truer than in the case of the decadent 'Wee Palace' apartment - which is soon to be featured in a leading interiors magazine! The Wee Palace, located in an historic and attractive building in the bustling Grassmarket in the heart of the Old Town, has what we believe is the best view of Edinburgh Castle. And, befitting to its proximity to the historic royal home, its interior is palatial, including a grand four poster bed. This romantic, one bedroom apartment exudes charm and character from every nook and cranny.

The opulent four-poster, high quality pocket-sprung mattress, the best of Egyptian cotton bed linen, cosy bathrobes, fluffy white bath towels, feature fireplace, sumptuous curtains, flat screen TV and DVD player, chandeliers, iPod docking station, designer furniture and accessories, along with the well-fitted shower-room with Molton Brown toiletries, all give you a feeling of a boutique hotel suite.

But the Wee Palace apartment also gives you the added benefit of independence and flexibility. Although there are a huge variety of restaurants in which to wine and dine right on your doorstep, you also have the option of cooking your own romantic meal in the fully fitted contemporary kitchen, and then sitting down to dine with the best view in town, overlooking the Castle.

The apartment is located in the historic market square in the heart of the Old Town (the Grassmarket) and is surrounded by iconic landmarks and attractions. The square, which is a vibrant and popular meeting place for visitors and locals alike, features independent shops selling everything from designer and vintage fashion to artisan foods. With its many restaurants and traditional pubs, the Wee Palace is perfectly placed in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town.

Mary Queen of Scots, who lived at Edinburgh Castle and gave birth to James VI there, spent most of her childhood in France. To reflect this, you will also find a touch of French charm adding glamour to the Scottish cosiness of the Wee Palace apartment.

Whilst the Wee Palace has the most commanding views of the Castle, its third (and top) floor position means you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the medieval square when you want to really relax. (There are three flights of stairs to the top floor, no lift).

For your convenience, you will benefit from free wifi and access to the apartment is via a key within a keybox so you have the flexibility of letting yourself in at a time that suits you. Whilst the Grassmarket is largely pedestrianised with limited parking, if you arrive by car we can offer you free parking at a private car park for the duration of your stay. Whilst this is a 17 minutes walk away, you will find you won't need a car when you are staying in the heart of the city.

With the home of former kings and queens as your neighbour, it is fitting that you also experience some of the grandeur of royalty by staying at the Wee Palace. This luxury accommodation offers you everything you would expect from a five star hotel and more – but not at a queen's ransom!

A stay in Edinburgh doesn't get much grander or more comfortable, than this.

The Wee Palace is brought to you by the same owners/interior designers as the five star Old School apartment at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, which has attracted rave reviews from people around the world and a 100% rating on Trip Advisor.

"Stunning"

From the reviews I had read on TripAdvisor I knew this place would be something special, and it really lived up to expectations. As has been repeated in all of the reviews, the personal touches by the owners are outstanding and quite unique. We loved that we were so near to everything in the city and yet the apartment was very peaceful even on a weekend night. The bed was truly to die for, the most comfortable I have ever slept in and all of the furnishings have clearly been thought carefully about. You really could not fault this place in any way at all. We will definitely be booking The Wee Palace or another of Gillian's properties the next time we are in Edinburgh.

Aw...thank you :-) It's so lovely to be described as faultless! I'm so glad you had a great time in Edinburgh and such great sleeps at the end of the day! Thanks a million for sharing - much appreciated.

"Really is a "wee palace"!! Wonderful!!"

My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful stay here! Beautiful apartment with amazing views to the castle - very romantic! We loved the elegant yet quirky decor of the 'palace', and it was also extremely clean! Perfect location, walking distance from everywhere! Also literally a stones though away from some great independent shops, great restaurants and local pubs with live music every night! Although please note that we did not hear a thing once in the apartment! Wonderful sleep! I would recommend The Wee Palace to anyone looking to spend some time in a lovely part of Edinburgh, we will most DEFINATELY be back!!

I'm so glad you had such a romantic stay and enjoyed being in the heart of the action in the Old Town whilst still enjoying the tranquillity of the Palace! We really appreciate you choosing to stay with us and taking the time to write us such a lovely review. We are DEFINITELY looking forward to welcoming you both back!

"Perfect in every way, make 'The Wee Palace By The Castle' your first choice!"

Feel like we've discovered a secret and are torn between whether to share it with everyone, or keep it to ourselves so there's less chance of it being fully booked next time we want to stay! Amazing and perfect in every way!! Great hosts (Gillian and Ewen), with an obvious flair for interior design - the Scottish theme adding to the overall Edinburgh experience. Spotlessly clean (thanks to Olga), everything you could possibly need during your stay ... and more, like top quality toiletries, luxurious towels and bath robes and as much tea and coffee as you'd need! Perfect view of the castle from the living room, floodlit at night, where better to dine! Complimentary Prosecco too! Most comfy bed we have ever slept in, wish we could have brought it home. Lots of thoughtful touches for guests and plenty of useful recommendations for things to do and places to eat etc. perfect for that special occasion/romantic break. Free parking at a different location, but no need to use the car while staying in the city and we felt quite safe leaving it in the private car park for the whole of our stay.
We have stayed in all sorts of accommodation throughout the world and this was by far the best for self catering. Gillian, Ewen (and not forgetting Olga) you should feel very proud of your home, an asset to Edinburgh's tourist industry.
We will definitely be back again!!

When we first planned our holiday apartments we could only dream of getting reviews with a headline like this. Thanks for helping our dreams come true and for being such fabulous and considerate guests.

"Speechless!"

As we walked through the door of the property I was left completely speechless. The whole apartment was spotless and furnished to the highest standards!
The welcoming sign and bottle of Prosecco were a lovely little surprise for our anniversary getaway.
The kitchen had every thing you could ever need and the Molton Brown toiletries were lush.
We ate breakfast and dinner at the apartment for the majority of our stay, where else in the city can you get such a perfect view of the castle from your dining table? It was so perfect that my partner made it the location to 'pop the question'! It couldn't have been better!
We only ate out once (at the Hard Rock Cafe, which was good) but I couldn't recommend anywhere. We did bring some food from home with us, such as steak and items to make a full english, I'm glad we did this as it meant we could just relax that little bit more!

I cant fault Gillian's attempts at The Wee Palace, we felt right at home and even spent an evening playing Scrabble that we found in the cupboard! The apartment is more than perfect and we will definitely be back!

We're so chuffed that you loved the apartment so much that you hardly wanted to leave it. But not as chuffed as we are to hear that your partner was so inspired by the setting to pop the question! Huge congratulations to you both - we look forward to welcoming you back for your honeymoon, anniversary...?! And thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a lovely glowing review.

"The best apartment we have ever stayed in"

I am not sure there are words to describe just how superb this apartment is.
Luxury, five star boutique, glamorous, thoughtful are just a few that spring to mind.
The location is also first class, with supermarkets, cafes and shops on your doorstep, fabulous views of the castle ( floodlit at night) and walking distance to the modern part of Edinburgh with its glitzy department store and delicious cafe and also walking distance to the small but full of treasures art museum. We used the tram to get back to the airport, cost was only £5 per person and we caught it from the modern part of town ( just a short walk downhill).
The apartment is spotlessly clean and I mean spotless and I just wish I had just an inch of the owners interior flair for decoration. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment and more to the point if I return to Edinburgh I would not even think of booking anywhere else.
First class in every single respect. Don't even consider booking a hotel or anywhere else. Book here.

Oh my goodness...what an amazing headline and what an amazing review! Gosh, I think we need you to write our promotional material! I'm so chuffed you took the time to share your lovely feedback - it's hugely appreciated. Thanks so much - I do hope we can welcome you both back one day.

"De luxe bolthole by the castle"

Beautifully furnished and well equipped apartment in the centre of the Grassmarket with stunning views over the Castle. Restaurants, bars and shops on the doorstep, a short stroll from Princes Street. The apartment has everything you need for the perfect stay and the bottle of bubbly on our arrival was a lovely way to start our mini moon!

I hadn't realised it was your mini-moon. Huge congratulations to you both! In which case, I'm even more glad you enjoyed the bottle of bubbly on your arrival and the many restaurants etc on your doorstep. Thanks again for staying with us and for taking the time to write us such a lovely review. We hope we can welcome you back on the many anniversaries to come!

"Wonderful wee palace"

I was extremely impressed with the quality of the apartment and the warm welcome provided by the owner.it really is luxurious unlike so many rentals that make this claim. It was just a 5 min walk from central attractions (up a hill)and many restuarants/cafés and sainsburys close by. It's a hike up the stairs but the fabulous view of the castle is so worth it.this is a really special and romantic place to stay in Edinburgh

We're really chuffed you enjoyed your stay and the Wee Palace was everything you hoped it would be, especially when you had travelled so far to visit us! It's super kind of you to have taken the time to write us such a lovely review - thanks so much.

"Amazing, made the Holiday perfect!"

Wow, there are no words to explain how amazing this apartment is, it is five star luxury and every little thing has been thought of, from toiletries to home comforts. We felt very at ease and were made us feel at home from the second we walked in. We would recommend to anyone.

Wow, there are no words to explain how chuffed we are with your lovely review! Thank you so so much for taking the time to share your comments and being such perfect guests.

"Beautiful apartment - highly recommend"

Spent 3 nights at the apartment for my husbands 30th. The booking process before hand was great and the owner Gillian was very helpful. When we arrived, there was a lovely welcome letter and a bottle of prosecco which was such a lovely touch. The apartment is truly fabulous and like a five star boutique hotel. The decoration and finishing touches are of such high quality and the bed was one of the comfiest we've ever stayed in! The little extras like tea/coffee and Molton Brown toiletries are also fab! It is also in a great location and within walking distance to most places, we walked down to Princes Street every day and it was about a 15 minute walk. I would highly recommend The Witchery by the Castle, we went for an evening meal on my husbands actual birthday and it was recommended by Gillian. It is a little pricier than the norm but the food and wine were amazing and it's a ten min uphill walk, even in heels! Also recommend the Mussel Inn (just down from Jamie's Italian on a side street between Princes and George Street). They did a lunch time special of either mussels or chowder with a drink for £15:95 and it was superb. We will be telling all our friends and family about this stunning apartment and when we return to Edinburgh in the future, we would certainly stay here again.
