The East Anglia region

With a huge range of free attractions and great things to do and see for all ages you'll find yourself spoilt for choice. North Norfolk stretches for 43 miles along the picturesque and ever-changing coast. Three quarters of this coastline is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and many beaches have a history of winning awards for their cleanliness and facilities. Its coastal towns have grown over the centuries from small, isolated fishing communities into bustling seaside resorts. But they have kept the character of communities working on the shore - the crab and fishing boats still putting out to sea, the lifeboats still proudly manned, and now the waters and nature reserves carefully maintained to preserve the area's reputation as an unspoilt retreat

North Norfolk is also home to some of the famed Norfolk Broads, Cut in the Middle Ages by peat-diggers, the Norfolk Broads have so much to offer. Even at the busiest times you can still find quiet and solitude amongst its waterways. With amazing sunsets, misty mornings and an abundance of birdlife, the Norfolk Broads are the ideal location for day visits. Luxury cruisers to sailing dinghies can be hired for any period of time from the boat hire companies along the Broads.

Approximately a hours drive from the Lodge is Norwich - With a back drop of 32 medieval churches, 2 cathedrals and a Norman castle, shopping in Norwich is a rather unique experience. High street stores, designer brands, independent shops and quirky goods are all on offer in this city listed as one of the top 10 places to shop in the UK.

Norfolk is also dubbed the birdwatching capital of Britain. There's plenty to see whatever the time of year - from Barn Owls to Kingfishers, Cetti's Warbler to Bearded Tits. Norfolk is birdwatchers' paradise!

Old Hunstanton

10 minute drive from Sandringham House & Estate - This is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The house, set in 24 hectares of stunning gardens, is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk and is at the heart of the 8,000-hectare Sandringham Estate, 240 hectares of which make up the woodland and heath of the Country Park, open to the public free of charge every day of the year.

5 minutes drive from Hunstanton - a Victorian Seaside Resort on Norfolk's Sunset Coast overlooking The Wash

20 minutes drive from King's Lynn - one of Britain's most fascinating market towns, a treasure-house of architectural gems from medieval times through to the present day.
