The East Anglia region
You can relax and enjoy yourselves in Norfolk.
Norfolk is the safest place in the country, with the lowest crime rate in England, according to Home Office figures (Source: 2009 iQuanta rankings).
The Norfolk Broads - an area of outstanding natural beauty is one of the main attractions of East Anglia.
There is something for everyone to enjoy in the area - from boating, fishing, sailing, walking, cycling, birdwatching.
Wroxham is only 5 miles away and there you can hire a dayboat all year round and there are many restaurants overlooking the broads there.
Beech Barn is only 4 miles from Norwich town centre so ideal for what is possibly the best shopping area in the country, (officially rated in the top 10) with 2 large Malls and many small and totally unique shops located in ancient streets.
The Norman Cathedral is one of the finest in England, with its magnificent Cloisters and Cathedral Close.
Norwich Castle a wonderful Norman 900 year old castle, constructed to impress the locals once used as a prison, now a museum, houses several outstanding collections of art, natural history, archeology and historical artifacts, lots for family holidays.
Norwich also has good night life (clubs, bars, pubs etc). Norwich was once famous for having a church for every week in the year and a pub for every day. It had the highest number of pubs per square mile in the UK.
There is always something special on at the theatres (Theatre Royal, The Playhouse, Maddermarket Theatre, The Garage Theatre) and sometimes in the summer there are outside performances.
Fishing lakes are less than 5 minutes walk. There are several golf clubs within 10 mins drive including Costessey Park golf course set in 100 acres of picturesque parkland less than one mile away.

"Brilliant place, can't recommend it enough!"
Great place to stay with helpful friendly owners. Spacious and comfortable accommodation with all the facilities you need, including washing machine, large dinning area, massive TV and a computer with fast internet. We stayed twice and would certainly stay again. Well recommended. Great location, very private. Excellent top marks, no complaints.

"Warm and comfortable with friendly and helpful owners."
Beech Barn is very convenient for Norwich and the surrounding area. The accommodation is comfortable and the central heating is efficient and easy to control. It is well equipped with a good range of facilities and there is a commendably relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent location: peaceful, semi-rural yet near city and all amenities.
Convenient for sightseeing, walks, fishing and cycling.
Spacious, well-designed, very clean barn conversion with kitchen/diner, bathroom and small, paved entrance hall/utility room downstairs and one large bedroom/living-room upstairs. Suitable for couple or family with younger children.
Well-equipped kitchen with good quality appliances.
Table-tennis outside and table-football inside to keep everyone amused and happy.
Huge TV, computer and Wi-Fi – a real touch of luxury for the price.
Spectacular outside area: perfect for al fresco dining or just chilling with a cup of tea.
Friendly, relaxed hosts who kindly left tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk, cleaning stuff and toilet paper ready for guests' arrival. Warm, welcoming touch – much appreciated.
Clear, prompt communication with hosts throughout.
Sign could be bigger and more obvious as entrance to property is disguised by hedges.
Would be good if bottom half of stable door shut properly to let air circulate while keeping small children or dogs safe.
Shower door/curtain OR mop to dry the floor would help.
Chest of drawers would be handy for clothes storage.
Thin sofa-bed mattress would not suit anyone with back problems.
Washing-machine and pegs great but a washing-line would be useful!
Generally: This was a convenient and relaxing base for a week's holiday visiting friends and family. Beech Barn is excellent value for money and we thoroughly recommend it. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to stay there again. Many thanks to Tom and Rita.

"Ideal for our needs"
We booked a four night stay to visit family in Taverham & Norwich so location of the barn was perfect for us. We also visited the coast around Happisburgh which was only a short drive away and visited Felbrigg Hall (NT) near Cromer.
Unfortunately the weather was bitterley cold which prevented us from spending much time outdoors so we did not get the opportunity to walk around the village or to Norwich as we had planned. The barn was extremely warm & welcoming to go back to at the end of the day. Comfy bed upstairs and all mod cons in the kitchen.
It was good to have a large screen tv which is rare in a rental property. There is a super outside area for those long hot evenings!
The only moan (a bit petty really) would be the stable door. As we suffered high winds it would have made it easier if the top section was bolted to the lower door.
Owners Tom & Rita have been great with communications from the booking through to when we left and in no way were they intrusive.

"Lovely location , accommodation . Don't forget its a studio !"
Got very lucky with weather , so had plenty of trips out . Ideal for fishing . Shallowbrook fisheries few hundred yards up the road . No surface bait fishing ! £6.00 a day for 2 rods , but Robin who is the bailiff there will keep you right . Different lakes contain different fish . Check out website . Bring plenty of worms !
Back to the accommodation .There is kitchen & dining area down stairs , plus bathroom and toilet . Bathroom shower needs a curtain rail . Shower hard to direct & you're constantly stepping on to wet & slippery floor . Put a towel down , you will be using the ones supplied , but there are not enough if you are using them on the bathroom floor so bring a couple of your own . Also bring extra pillows . The sleeping arrangements are all upstairs in one big room so suits a family well . We spent every evening bar one ( out for brothers birthday party ) under the covered area . Had the chimnea going and were very comfortable eating and drinking out there . There is a co-op supermarket in the village , up the hill on left . Also fishing tackle shop . The accommodation needs a sign outside . We found it eventually . White gate post , big hedge . Its the barn conversion behind the big house . All in all had a great time . Great value for money , nice owners . apart from the couple of things mentioned above really enjoyed our stay. Recommended
Thanks for recommending us Peter and family, good to see you making the most of the fishing lakes and the covered patio area. Sorry about no bathmats we forgot to leave some out for you and we'll include some extra pillows in future, thanks for mentioning it. Hope to have you back again.

"Delightful holiday let"
We stayed for 2 weeks with 2 young children. We currently live overseas and wanted somewhere near Norwich to base ourselves to see family and friends.
The barn was really lovely, and the outside space was exceptionally nice, so much so that friends came to visit us almost daily, and when the sun shone we played table tennis and had bbq's and when it turned cold, we lit the fire in the garden area and drank wine under blankets on the comfy old leather leather sofa watching the stars.
Beech barn was a real find, thank you Tom and Rita, we will be back!

Thank you very much, great that you enjoyed everything outside as well.
Welcome back any time, Tom and Rita

"Felt like home!"
This studio is huge, well-organized, comfortable and well-stocked with all the conveniences of home. The bed is really comfortable, the property has lots of natural light and the kitchen is spacious and filled with everything you would ever need including a dishwasher, cooker, microwave and a large dining table. So many extra luxuries like a giant television, foosball table, washing machine and reclining sofa (so comfortable!) made it difficult to leave…
The property is about four miles outside of Norwich and is located right next to a national cycle route (Tom was kind enough to lend us some bikes while we were there which was much appreciated!) The area is very quiet with nice country views – it's a fifteen minute walk to a pub in one direction and a 15 min walk (or 3 min drive) to a Coop grocery store in the other direction which was very convenient. The bus stop into Norwich is one minute down the street and stops right outside the train station and the city-centre. If arriving by car, there is more than enough room for parking and lots of interesting sights in the area within easy driving distance (Tom and Rita have tons of tourist attraction pamphlets available in the flat so you won't be at a loss for things to do).
We really did enjoy our stay here and can't say enough about our hosts who bent over backwards to make sure we had a nice time and were comfortable (even bringing over emergency tea-making supplies when we arrived tired out, late in the evening!)
We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Norwich!
Thank you, very welcome back any time.

"Great for extended stays! Loved it!"
This was a wonderful place to stay for three weeks. I stayed with my boyfriend so it was wonderfully spacious for us two, and it would be very comfortable for a family. There is a bus stop about a minutes walk away, and as we traveled without a car it was very convenient. There were also taxi services available that weren't too expensive. I flew in to Norwich from the States so staying in an unknown place for three weeks was a bit daunting, but Tom and Rita made it very comfortable and even put a Christmas tree up for us! All the necessities are there waiting for you even coffee, tea and milk. There is a computer with an internet connection, that I could hook into my laptop, and the TV is very nice. The entire place was very clean upon arrival and we were very pleased. The Beech Barn is in a very nice, safe, suburban area that is very quiet and surrounded by horse pastures. I would easily recommend this place to anyone, its absolutely ideal. I would be very happy to stay here again in the future! It was an absolutely wonderful place to stay and very affordable, especially if you are traveling for an extended time in a foreign country, it was much better than a hotel because you had all the comforts of home! Thanks again Tom and Rita!
Great, glad you enjoyed Norwich at Christmas.
