Home description
Moorlands Cottage in the village of Belstone, nestles in the valley between Belstone Tor and Cawsand Beacon in the heart of Devon in Dartmoor National Park. The grounds surrounding the Cottage are a wildlife haven complete with resident roe deer.
A peaceful setting on the edge of Belstone village and just a 5 minute stroll into the village centre with it’s fine local pub / restaurant serving excellent local food. The lack of light pollution in the village (it has just 1 street light), means that on a clear night the stars are a wonder to behold.

The West Country / Devon region
The village lies around 25 miles west of Exeter with access from the A30 dual carriageway, the nearest junction (Okehampton) being only two miles away.
This is a wonderful walking country among some of the grandest tors on Dartmoor. High Willhays (the highest point in southern England) can be reached in a morning’s walk. Cranmere Pool is equally accessible being the prime goal for many walkers where Dartmoor’s oldest letter box is found and where four key Devon rivers each have their source.
Many places of great interest are only a short drive away – Lydford Gorge, Castle Drogo (both National Trust), Fingle Bridge and Haytor Rocks to name but a few. In addition, many cycle routes run through the area including the well-known Tarka Trail.
Okehampton area
Belstone is a very attractive village perched on the northern fringe of Dartmoor. Wild ponies and sheep that tend to wander on the village green often outnumber locals. The village has considerable history – don’t be caught misbehaving or you may find yourself in the ancient village stocks ! There is a medieval Church, Post Office in the village hall, a wonderful country pub and riding stables.
