Built in recent years and stylishly presented with a twist of that old Sardinian charm, Villa Julia is set on a hillside in 5000sqr mtrs of enclosed gardens and is ideal for parties of adults or family's with children.Take a dip in the large private kidney shaped pool, enjoy a BBQ cooked in the outdoor summer kitchen while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and bay of marina di tertenia.Villa Julia is just the place for people who want to relax and enjoy. For the more energetic,a 300mtr walk uphill you will find one of Sardinia's many Stone Age Nuraghe ruins.[ a must see from the top ].

If you do want to venture out, within a five minute drive you will find restaurants, bars,horse riding/trekking,gokarting and a choice of two fabulous beaches surrounded by shallow crystal clear sea.The town of Tertenia has a wide range of shops selling everything you may need and is no more than a15 minutes drive.Visit the cheese factory which is only a short distance out of town where you can choose from a large range of delicious cheeses.

Built to a high standard the spacious groundfloor interior comprises entrance doors [wheelchair accessible] to large well appointed living room with luxury furnishings and archway to dining room which also has a double sofabed, en suite double bedroom with kingsize bed and matching furniture. There is also a separate shower room with toilet. The well equipped kitchen leads to a large utility room/storeroom with washing machine/ ironing facilities/garden and poolside furniture and door to outside fitted summer kitchen with barbecue and staircase to very large roof terrace. A feature staircase leads from the living area to three large airy double en suite bedrooms each with balconies overlooking the pool and spectacular sea and mountain views. Two bedrooms have kingsize beds and matching furniture and en suites with large walk-in showers. The other double bedroom has two single beds and matching furniture with its own shower room. All rooms have airconditioning/heating and fitted mosquito screens. There is also two single chairbeds and two cots.

The Ogliastra / Marina di Tertenia area

Ogliastra is the southeastern sector of Nuro province and Marina de Tertenia is a beautiful coastal area relatively undiscovered by tourists,with stunning mountain and coastal views and turquoise seas that surround the white sandy beaches of Foxi manna and Melisenda. There is a wide range of activities available including: tennis,go-karting,horse riding/treking,fishing,snorkeling,cycling and beautiful mountain hikes.

The village of Tertenia is situated around 10km away from the Marina of Tertenia. Here you will find a wide range of shops, supermarkets and bars, a bank, post office, a doctors surgery for tourists, the village church, a gelateria, the cheese factory, where you can purchase the local cheeses direct, and a bus route linking to all the other towns, villages and cities in the Ogliastra region .In the month of August, the locals organise a fiesta, to demonstrate how they lived and worked more than 100 years ago. There is a chance to try local dishes, cheeses and wines. This event is very popular with the tourists, and the locals.

The three major airports in Sardinia are in Cagliari - (south coast), Olbia (northeast coast) and Alghero (northwest coast).

Tertenia is about 100km from the nearest airport Elmas Cagliari with regular flights available from a number of budget airlines to all three airports during the summer months. The nearest ferry is Arbatax about 40km. A car is essential and there are many car hire firms at the airports and ferry terminals.It is very important to pre-book your car at peak times.

“Perfect For Familes!” I stayed here for a week with my Wife, 2 young children (2 and 7), and the in laws. I generally do not write reviews unless i feel strongly about something. This i feel strongly about. It was without doubt our most memorable family holiday to date, and a large part of this was due to the villa itself. I cannot stress enough how this property is so suited to families like us. The location on a mountainside overlooking the sea is quite simply a spectacle. The property itself sits on what looked to be about an acre plot, with a lovely good sized pool for both adults and kids. The perimeter is fenced and completely secure for kids. Even the gate is lockable. The layout of the outside area is superb, with a huge canopy over the front door for shade at all times of the day while you still have a full view of your kids in the pool! Internally the rooms are all large, the kitchen is well equipped with 2 giant fridges and every utensil we could imagine. There was a huge utility room too. A Big lounge and dining room area, which you will certainly not require if you go in August! We've never spend so much time outside! All bedrooms are lockable, so you don't have to worry about your little ones wandering into the pool after bed. And the upper bedrooms have absolutely enourmous balconies like I have never seen before in my life. Watching the sunrise over the sea from our balcony at 6.30am was breathtaking. The caretaker next door was excellent, and super helpful. The area is unspoilt, with several lovely beaches, a handful of restaurants and shops. The whole package was just A1. What a holiday! If you are looking to take your kids somewhere i don't think you can do much better.

“Felt like a millionaire all week” Staying in such a beautifull villa with the best views of the entire area, made me feel like a millionaire all week, I especially liked the flowers surrounding the villa, and sittin on the veranda in the early evening with the peacefull sounds of sheep bells in the distance. Just great , so easy to relax. higly recommendable.

“Wonderful villa and region” Villa Julia is the right place to spend a wonderful holiday in Sardegna. The view from the villa of the mountains and the sea are incredible. We loved to be at the pool, to sit on the veranda or having our diner outside under the stars. Tertenia is a nice little town, where you can enjoy real “Italianita”. The villages nestled in the mountains are well worth a visit and the beaches in the area are just beautiful – uncrowded, clean and perfect for swimming. We would also like to mention Mauro, who lives next door and is the caretaker for the villa. He is a really nice person and very helpful. We hope that one day we will be back in Sardegna – and in Villa Julia!
