This one bedroom apartment is located on the 1st floor, building with a lift in a quiet residential area with restaurants, coffee shops and supermarket on its doorstep. It is 10 minutes walk from the centre of this beautiful village with the impressive Palace of Marques de Pombal and its beautiful gardens where you can just have a walk or relax and travel back to the past.
Oeiras is on the coast between Lisbon and Cascais, it is 15 minutes on the train to each side and it is really worth it to take the train as it runs along the coast and in some parts it almost feels as if the train is running on the top of the sea.
The apartment is 20 minutes walk to the beach and Marine. The beach is well kept and supervised at all times by lifeguards; there is also an Oceanic Pool with all the facilities and a Marine with many night bars and restaurants.
To get around there are regular buses going to the train station. Taxis are fairly cheap in Portugal and an easy way to get around.
The flat has a double bedroom, bathroom with shower and bath, fully equipped kitchen, living room with single sofa bed, table with four chairs, TV with DVD.

The Central Portugal region
Boasting springtime temperatures during the winter and cool summers freshened by a breeze blowing in from the Atlantic, Costa de Lisboa, on the southwestern coast, offers a rich and impressively integrated diversity. The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of History.
Nearby, Sintra's lush wooded heights and verdant charms invite one to take a ride on a horse-pulled carriage, and gaze at the marvelous manor-houses, located within the grounds of century old farms, as one drives up to Pena Palace, built by Fernando Cobourg Gothas on the ruins of a monastery from the 16th century, the style of the palace is a blend of Gothic, Manueline, and Romantic influences which make for a very explosive combination, and keeps the atmosphere of a royal residence.
Oeiras offers a range of new attractions and sites of interest, from the Fábrica da Pólvora (a former gunpowder factory from the 16th century which has been recovered for leisure and cultural purposes) to the Poets Park (a vast green space with statues of Portuguese poets and writers) and the Palace of the Royal Estate at Caxias, dating from the 18th century and surrounded by wonderful gardens.
Visitors may also benefit from different leisure and sports facilities, such as the sports complex of Jamor, the Maritime Walk (a seaside promenade to link Algés to the Torre beach, still unfinished) or the modern marina at Oeiras, prepared to welcome sixty ships, besides other parks and gardens.
The historical centres of several towns have also been recovered and display monuments and sites of interest in picturesque and pleasant settings, often including good restaurants, as is the case of Paço de Arcos.

"Perfect base for exploring"
This flat is the perfect base for exploring Oeiras, Lisbon and the surrounding area. It is fairly basic, but has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Manuela sorted transport to and from the airport, which I would recommend as I think public transport would take a lot longer. It is perfectly situated for the local supermarket and lots of little cafes. The train station is easy walking distance where you can take a 20min train journey to Lisbon. The Beach is a 15/20 min walk, but don't take the main roads, the park is much prettier and quicker. The only downside is the flat is situated on a hill, so takes a little longer to walk back! We did lots of walking along the promenade, where you will find a lovely marina with some great places to eat.

"Excellent apartment and very helpful owner"
My boyfriend and I had a great holiday here at the end of August. We'd highly recommend the apartment to anyone for a number of reasons: - Manuela, the owner was very quick at responding to queries, booking our stay and refunding the deposit. She very kindly booked our taxi for us for our transfers to the apartment. She also sent us a text mid way through our holiday to check that everything was okay. So above and beyond what you'd expect! - The apartment was lovely - simply and brightly decorated. It had everything that you'd need for a self catering holiday, plus a hairdryer and tv. The only thing I'd recommend would be for there to be a dressing table in the bedroom. - The apartment was very well located - over the road from a big supermarket, 10-15min walk to oerias town centre, 10-15min walk to the train station. So, on the whole, highly recommended! I'd definitely stay here again if I returned to Lisbon.

Stayed in this apartment 25th june - 6th july 2012. We found it very comfortable, very clean and well equipped. It was well situated with a supermarket just over the road (with multibank facility) and no more than 20mins away from all other amenities. Plenty of coffee bars and restaurants close by. Not touristy at all, so not much english spoken, pleased we took a phrase book with us. We walked the 3k promenade which was nice, there is lots of places to stop to eat/drink. Manuela, (the owner) she recommended a few restaurants and we did try some of them and they were as she had said, "very good". We also found a Japanese restaurant around the corner. Also very good. There is also an excellent take away chicken shop next to the Japanese restaurant. There is lots of parks and garden to just relax in. we did lots of that. With not having a hire car we found having the train station only 15 min walk away very convenient. we went to Cascais on the train which was again only about 15mins (4.10 euros return pp, very reasonable) Cascais is a tourist place, lots of restaurants and coffee bars, lovely beaches and again a good promenade for walking. Well worth a visit even just for the train ride. Manuela's parents were lovely and friendly, was nice to know there was someone there if we had a problem (we didn't have any) .They don't speak english so again the phrase book came in handy. Will definitely book for next year, wish we could have stayed longer, the weather was perfect.

"I would stay again"
Manuela and William’s flat is very central and close to transport , in fact the bus stop is in the same street and the taxis are just around the corner and you can catch buses to the train station from the bus stop. You’ll find a supermarket and restaurants nearby and, if you like to explore, there are good and reasonably priced restaurants and small traditional shops in Santo Amaro de Oeiras. There is also a large shopping centre a little further north. You have a pharmacy close by as well which is always good, just in case... Santo Amaro Oeiras is a short walk. The beach will take you some 20 minutes and any other walk to places of interest will be around the same time: so definitely very central for walks and visits to nearby places of interest. The flat is on the first floor ( two lifts) and with a minimalist decor. However, you’ll find everything you need for a pleasant stay. The bedroom is nice and airy, with a comfortable bed. In the living room you can watch some TV (small TV set) and have your meal. The kitchen has a good hob and 2 ovens if you fancy cooking or baking, a kettle (which is always a godsend!), a washing-machine, a stove coffee maker (another godsend) and a good fridge. The flat was extremely clean and the bathroom, towels and bedding were impeccable. Manuela’s parents who live in the same building were extremely pleasant and helpful and, Manuela’s Mum is a sweet lady who even gave me a jar of homemade jam the day I left! I couldn’t thank her enough:) It’s a safe environment with nice neighbours and you feel secure walking around the area. I stayed in the flat for a week in mid April and will be happy to return if I need to stay in the Oeiras area another time.
