The villa is located in a quiet and relaxing environment on the edge of Obidos Lagoon. Within 5 minutes walk you can be on a beach at the lagoon, or in 5 minutes drive you can be on the miles of fantastic sandy white beaches on the Atlantic. The Silver Coast area is a perfect venue for a golfing holiday with two world class golf courses 5 minutes drive from the villa. Two complete sets of golf clubs are provided for use by guests staying at the villa. The area also offers watersport activities such as surfing, windsurfing and sailing.
The gentler waters of the lagoon make it ideal for the beginner or for fishing. For families, there are many EU Blue flag beaches in the area, the nearest being at Praia do Mar (5 mins drive) and along the coast to Peniche. You can enjoy the great outdoors using the cycle track or by exploring the many walks around the lagoon, woodland and stunning coastline.
The medieval walled town of Obidos nearby is a lovely place to visit or you can relax at the villa by the private pool. Car hire is essential to get the most out of sightseeing.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
The Silver Coast is renowned for it's unspoilt coastline and excellent golf courses. Stunning quiet beaches are in abundance along this coastline and will appeal to couples and families alike. You also have the choice of the beautiful sandy beaches on the calmer waters of the lagoon.
The rugged coastline of the Atlantic can be of particular interest to water sport enthusiasts who want to take part in windsurfing and surfing. The sandy white beaches at Praia D’El Rey, Baleal, Peniche and Sao Martinho do Porto attract enthusiastic surfers. They are also good for family trips, in particular Praia D'El Rey, as it is only 5 minutes drive away from the villa.
The mild climate with all year round sunshine makes it the perfect holiday destination in all seasons. In the summer the heat is refreshed by a gentle sea breeze. The area is very picturesque with lush, green, tree lined hillsides.
Obidos / Perola da Lagoa area
The beautifully preserved medieval walled town of Obidos is a few minutes drive away. Obidos is the pride of the region and was given as a wedding gift by the King of Portugal to his wife. The town is lovely with narrow cobblestone streets full of whitewashed houses with blue or yellow borders, flower-laden window boxes and terracotta roofs. It has many cultural events including an annual chocolate festival. There are a good choice of restaurants and bars, teahouses and gift shops selling local handicrafts. Obidos also has a large supermarket.
Nearby are two excellent golf courses - Praia del Rey and Bom Sucesso, located in beautiful scenery within 5 minutes drive. Praia d’El Rey, with sea views, was designed by the American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson. It was rated 13th best course in Europe by Golf World magazine, attracting both private and sponsored events as well as international tournaments and recently hosted the Portuguese open. Bom Sucesso, opened October 2008, is already considered one of the finest courses in Europe. It has stunning views over the Obidos Lagoon and was designed by Donald Steel. It’s a PAR 72, with an area exceeding 6000m2. Also in the area are Golden Eagle (25 min) and Campo Real (30 mins). Two complete sets of golf clubs are provided for guests at the villa.
The old fishing town of Peniche is famous locally for its seafood restaurants and has an old fortress overlooking the harbour. Peniche and Lourniha also have water parks.
For birdwatching, catch the boat from Peniche (takes about 35 mins) to the national bird sanctuary and nature reserve of the Berlengas Islands.
Batalha and Alcobaca both have monasteries that are well worth visiting.
For those interested in horse riding at every level there are some well established riding schools. There is also tennis courts available for hire and lessons within 10 minutes drive away.
For a great day out further afield, Sintra and Lisbon are famous tourist attractions. See the stunning palaces and castle at Sintra in their picturesque setting in the hills, or visit the beautiful city of Lisbon for many interesting attractions such as the unique Belém Tower or for traditional Fado music.
How to get there
The closest airport is Lisbon International; an easy drive of less than 1 hour along good motorways, and a short drive of smaller well marked roads at the end of the journey. Alternatively, the villa can be reached from Porto airport with a journey time of 2.5 hours.
Car hire is essential both for getting to the villa and to visit the many places of interest on this very picturesque part of the Silver Coast.

There are three balconies upstairs and the downstairs bedroom opens on to the terrace. The open plan living area is light and spacious with sliding doors to the south facing garden, terrace and pool, making the holiday sociable and enjoyed by everyone. The lounge area has two comfortable leather sofas, satellite TV, DVD and a CD player. The modern fully fitted kitchen benefits from a washing machine and dishwasher. A cot and highchair can be provided if requested on booking.
The villa is equipped with two complete sets of golf clubs for use by guests.
The villa would suit couples, families, groups or corporate bookings. There is a downstairs twin room with sliding doors to the terrace and an adjacent shower room suitable for the less mobile, the villa complies with local health and safety standards. The villa is managed by a long established local English agent with Portuguese staff, as our representatives they will be happy to provide local knowledge and assistance to help make your holiday even more enjoyable and stress free.
