About the home

The villa is located in a peaceful environment of stunning natural beauty on the edge of Obidos Lagoon, an ideal location for a family holiday. Within 5 minutes walk you can be on a cycle track and beach on the lagoon. Nearby along the track is the fantastic sandy white Bom Sucesso beach looking out towards the Atlantic. There are many walks nearby with fantastic views along the lagoon, beaches, clifftops and woodland.

The Silver Coast is a perfect venue for a golfing holiday with two world class golf courses, Bom Sucesso and Praia del Rey, only 5 minutes drive from the villa. Two complete sets of golf clubs are provided for use by guests staying at the villa.

The area has many EU blue flag beaches ideal for families or watersports enthusiasts, with activities such as surfing, windsurfing and sailing. There is a sailing school at the lagoon, its gentler waters are great for the beginner or for fishing.

Car hire is essential to get the most out of sightseeing, with many places of historical interest in the region. The medieval walled town of Obidos nearby is a must-see place to visit.

At the villa, rooms are light and spacious with upstairs bedrooms having balconies and ensuite facilities. The open plan living area leading out to the south facing terrace, garden and private pool makes the villa sociable and enjoyed by all. The villa is managed by a local agent, who as our representative, are happy to provide assistance and local knowledge if needed, to make your holiday even more enjoyable and stress-free.

The villa (size 230m2) was completed in 2009 and is fully furnished in contemporary styles with bedrooms having good wardrobe space. There are three balconies upstairs and the downstairs bedroom opens on to the terrace. The open plan living area is light and spacious with sliding doors to the south facing garden, terrace and pool, making the holiday sociable and enjoyed by everyone. In the lounge area are two comfortable leather sofas, satellite TV, DVD and a CD player. The modern fully fitted kitchen benefits from a washing machine and dishwasher. The villa is equipped with two complete sets of golf clubs for use by guests.

The master bedroom upstairs has an ensuite bathroom with a bath, basin, w.c. and shower cubicle. Also upstairs is a twin bedroom with ensuite shower room with a shower cubicle, basin and w.c. Downstairs is an additional twin bedroom with an adjacent shower room consisting of a shower cubicle, bidet, w.c. and basin. The downstairs twin room with sliding doors to the terrace and an adjacent shower room is suitable for the less mobile.

The villa complies with local health and safety standards and is managed by a long established local English agent with Portuguese staff, as our representatives they will be happy to provide local knowledge and assistance to help make your holiday even more enjoyable and stress free.

A highchair and travel cot is provided, but please bring your own baby blankets.

A Welcome Pack of groceries can be arranged. Please let us know when making a booking.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The Silver Coast is renowned for it's unspoilt coastline and excellent golf courses. Only 5 minutes drive from the villa are two world class golf courses Praia D'El Rey and Bom Sucesso. The villa is equipped with two complete sets of golf clubs for the use of guests.

As well as the beaches at the lagoon and Bom Sucesso nearby, you can find more about 5 minutes drive away at Praia do Mar. Further afield are beaches at Foz do Arelho on the opposite side of the lagoon, Baleal, Peniche, Sao Martinho do Porto and Nazare. All are very picturesque and ideal for family trips as well as attracting enthusiastic surfers.

The mild climate with all year round sunshine makes it the perfect holiday destination in all seasons. In the summer the heat is refreshed by a gentle sea breeze.

The region has many places of historic interest well worth visiting, including Fatima and the monasteries at Batalha and Alcobaca. For a great day out further afield, the university town of Coimbra, palaces and castle at Sintra, Mafra Palace, and the city of Lisbon are all famous tourist attractions.

The Obidos / Bom Sucesso area

Nearby are two excellent golf courses - Praia del Rey and Bom Sucesso, located in beautiful scenery within 5 minutes drive. Praia d’El Rey, with sea views, was designed by the American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson. It was rated 13th best course in Europe by Golf World magazine, attracting both private and sponsored events as well as international tournaments and recently hosted the Portuguese open. Bom Sucesso, opened October 2008, is already considered one of the finest courses in Europe. It has stunning views over the Obidos Lagoon and was designed by Donald Steel. It’s a PAR 72, with an area exceeding 6000m2. Also in the area are Golden Eagle (25 min) and Campo Real (30 mins). Two complete sets of golf clubs are provided for guests at the villa.

The beautifully preserved medieval walled town of Obidos is about 10 minutes drive away. This is a 'must see' place to visit during your holiday. The town is lovely with narrow cobblestone streets full of whitewashed houses with blue or yellow borders, flower-laden window boxes and terracotta roofs. From the town walls there are marvellous views of the town, castle, Roman ruins and surrounding countryside. There are a good choice of restaurants, cafes and bars, and gift shops selling local handicrafts. You can also try the local Ginja liquer. The town hosts cultural events throughout the year including an opera festival in August, a medieval festival in July and a delicious chocolate festival in March.

The fishing town of Peniche has an old fortress overlooking the harbour and there are many seafood restaurants. Peniche and Lourinha also have water parks. For birdwatching, catch the boat from Peniche (takes about 35 mins) to the national bird sanctuary and nature reserve of the Berlengas Islands.

Leisure activities in the area include tennis, gokarting, ten pin bowling and horse riding.

The closest airport is Lisbon International; an easy drive of less than 1 hour along good motorways, and a short drive of smaller well marked roads at the end of the journey. Alternatively, the villa can be reached from Porto airport with a journey time of 2.5 hours.

Car hire is essential both for getting to the villa and to visit the many places of interest on this very picturesque part of the Silver Coast.

One day we went all the way down south of Lisbon, it is lovely with the trams, castle and grand squares and statues.
