About the home

Bright, airy and spacious, this brand new contemporary villa is finished and furnished to the highest standard. It’s perfect for a relaxing break lounging by the private pool (with solar heating cover), on the beautiful Obidos lagoon or on the miles of white sandy beaches – all within a stone’s throw. For those looking for something more energetic, the villa is within 10 minutes of 2 of Portugal’s premier golf courses and within easy reach of many more. (We are 5 mins from the new Royal Obidos course due to open in Jan 2012). It is also ideally placed for activities such as surfing, cycling, sailing and horse riding. The beautiful medieval town of Obidos with its narrow winding streets to explore and calendar of cultural events is also a must for any visitor to the area.

The villa itself is beautifully appointed with 3 comfortable and spacious bedrooms decorated in contemporary styles. The 2 upstairs rooms are both en suite and have large balconies. The downstairs bedroom also has an adjacent bathroom. The living area is an airy and sociable space that’s ideal for accommodating both families and groups of friends. The property further benefits from satellite TV (including UK and European channels) HD DVD player, ipod dock and 3 mountain bikes.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The area enjoys a mild climate with all year round sunshine making it the perfect holiday destination in all seasons. It has beautiful scenery that includes pristine white sandy beaches and lush, green, tree lined hillsides. There are a number of places to visit including a trio of UNESCO world heritage sites at Alcobaca, Tomar and Bathala; the fishing town of Peniche, the surf beaches of Baleal, the perfect cove of Sao Martinho do Porto and the walled medieval town of Obidos. It is also well placed for visiting Lisbon and Sintra. The area is perfect for a number of activities such as golf, surfing, cycling, fishing and sailing.

The Obidos / Bom Sucesso area

Obidos is the pride of the region, a fantastically preserved medieval walled town. Its castle, cobbled streets, beautiful churches and whitewashed houses covered in flowers are like something out of a picture book. It has many cultural events including an annual chocolate festival in February.

The Obidos Lagoon is a peaceful oasis that is perfect for an evening stroll, for exploring on the new cycle path (4 mountain biks available with villa) or for safe swimming from the inshore beach.

The Bom Sucesso area is one of Europe’s finest for golf including both the Bom Sucesso course itself (opened in 2008) and the Praia del Rey course that is rated as one of Europe’s finest and that has recently hosted the Portuguese open. Both courses are within 10 minutes of the villa and discounts are available for those staying locally.

The villa is situated in Pinhal Village in the area of Bom Sucesso overlooking Obidos Lagoon on Portugal's beautiful Costa da Prata (Silver Coast).

The closest airport is Lisbon International; an easy drive of approximately 1 hour along motorways and well marked major roads. Alternatively, the villa can be reached from Porto airport with a journey time of 2.5 hours.

Car hire is required.

“fun in tranquil setting of bom successo” Very nice villa on quite estate. The adventure possibilities are endless. we surfed walked on island castles sand dunes. Sampled many a local tipple and enjoyed hours of pool time. Cycled next to the lake were we BBQ and watched the sun set. Vary easy going area and lovely people. Will be coming back.

“Great place to relax” We really enjoyed staying there. It was a quite neighbourhood, only 5 minutes to drive to the beaches. The beach was just great with only a few people there on September. The sand was white and fine. Surely, the waves are huge and seem to be dangerous :-). The villa was excellent with really all kind of stuff you need. When the weather was ugly my boys enjoyed playing Playstation even I wanted them to read :-). There were a lot of games and some books and a lot of information of Portugal. We really enjoyed the quite holidays there. The only minor thing was that it was a long drive to the supermarket in Obidos.

“Clean and large villa with games and bikes for children.” A new and large villa with thoughtful touches like playstation, bikes and games. It is a short walk to the lagoon which has a cycle track and is nice for a evening stroll. A car is required as local shops and restaurants our about 20 minutes away. Local beach is sandy with water sports available on the lagoon.

“Very well presented accomodation in good location” We enjoyed a brilliant family holiday at this villa. It is easy to reach - about 90 minutes easy drive north from Lisbon airport. The directions supplied by the owner were easy to follow and we found the villa without any difficulty. The villa is set on a small estate of similar properties. Despite the fact we were there in August peak season, we felt the area was pleasantly quiet. Despite the villas looking fairly close together, we never felt that we lacked privacy. Inside the villa was really well laid out. There is a big kitchen/dining area which is nice and airy. There was one good sized twin bedroom on the ground floor with an adjacent bathroom (shower and toilet). Our son bagged this. Our daughter took the upstairs twin bedroom which also has its own shower room. Our daughter was really impressed that she had two personal balconies to herself. We took the master bedroom. It had a huge double bed and plenty of fitted wardrobes. The ensuite had a bath as well as a shower. The whole villa was very tastefully furnished with brand new modern furniture. Despite the fact that the previous renters had only left the morning we arrived, it was absolutely spotless. Outside, the big bonus was the swimming pool. It was about 20 foot long and we spent many a pleasant afternoon wallowing in it after a day out. We walked more than once to Bom de Successo beach along the path around Obidos lagoon - it took around 25 minutes (alternatively it is a 5 minute drive). We also used the bikes supplied with the villa to explore the lagoon. We would highly recommend the villa - it was ideal for a relaxing holiday for a family of 4. The owner was very friendly and nice to deal with. In addition to the driving directions, a comprehensive information pack was also supplied explaining about the villa, and tips on places to visit. The icing on the cake was the price which we felt was very good value given the quality of the accommodation.

I stayed at the villa recently (12-18th September) with 4 friends I met while at University. Now living around the UK we used the holiday as a way to wind down from hectic jobs and catch up.

We had a fabulous time and found the villa was equipped with everything we could possibly need.
We were provided directions to and from the airport, to the supermarket and all the restaurants, beaches and attractions in the area. These were massively appreciated and really helped us have a stress free time.
The villa was very clean and spacious and it's position close to the lagoon meant that we could cycle or walk to the beach as we pleased.
We visited some attactions such as Obidos and the giant Buddha, which I would recommend.
A car is also essential to get the most out of the villa's location.
Overall a perfect holiday :)

I had never been to Portugal before and therefore had little idea what to expect.
When we first arrived at the property my first impression was the location appeared to be fairly isolated.
Once unpacked, my wife and I got straight back into the car for a look around and to get our bearings for the area. Any initial doubts we might have had regarding the location were quickly eroded as the area around the lagoon revealed itself to be stunning with a whole list of activities and great beach locations on offer.
I cannot remember the name of the beach (though it is pictured on this site) but the closest non-lagoon beach was stunning with easy (and free) parking and plenty of room.
More child friendly beaches (from a swimming point of view) were located at the mouth of the lagoon again, with plenty of space and easy parking.
There are some bicycles in the house though as our party was quite large we had to hire 2 more for the children. The service was great and they even delivered the bikes to us. The bikes are a great way getting around the lagoon as there is a cycle path around the edge.
While there are other restaurants in the area, the only one we frequented was the one that specialises in fish overlooking the lagoon at Rio Corticos. Though it was a fish restaurant, they were very accommodating, particularly with the children, preparing them meals that were not even on the menu. This was very friendly, has fantastic views and when we all tried to guess how much the bill was, we were all way out; it was much less than we imagined.
Apart from the beach and lagoon, the only place we ventured away from the house for was Obidos. This was a gorgeous place, well worth a walk around in the early evening before choosing from a wide variety of friendly and reasonably priced restaurants. There are also horse drawn carriages available for a 30min or so ride around the town.
The children adored this and it really was a fitting way to view the old town.
I was incedibly impressed by how spacious, clean and oppulent the house was; both in its layout as well as how it has been furnished and maintained. The pool was clean (and cleaned again while we were there) and kept the children happy for hours.
We did not want for anything other than another few days.
Definately plan to return and had a great holiday.

5 Fantastic Villa Holiday with Friends

We stayed at this villa in May 2010 with a group of 7 friends. We had an amazing time and felt that the villa far exceeded our expectations. The booking process was easy and the owners Dave and Julianne were extremely helpful and informative. They were happy to help with our requests and provided a very detailed information pack after booking.

The villa itself is in a lovely quiet location with all the amenities on your doorstep. You can even have bread delivered to your door every morning, which we made the most of! It is very spacious and although we had maximum capacity it didn’t feel overcrowded. The upstairs balconies are great spaces to relax and are very private with gorgeous views. The layout and décor is bright and contemporary and a real home from home. Everything was thought of that you could need or wish for, games, cooking equipment, guidebooks and even bikes. We took our one year old son and found the villa very easy to accommodate him.

We have been to the Algarve before but found this area to be much more picturesque and traditional and the locals were very friendly. The local beach is well worth a visit along with its fish restaurant looking out over the sea.

We visited the historic town of Obidos about a 15 min drive away from the villa, where we sampled the local drink consisting of a miniature cup made of chocolate which is filled with a cherry flavour liqueur and for only 1 euro each a great find and a must to try for fun. If you fancy a little bit of luxury then visit the spa at the Marriott Hotel at Praia del Rey.

We will definitely make a return visit and have already recommended it to friends and family.
