Obidos / Perola da Lagoa area
Obidos (only 15 minutes away) a famous Medieval town, set in the castle walls with its little shops, restaurants and more. Obidos is a mandatory stop for the thousands of tourist buses that tour the region each year. Obidos is the cultural centre of the region, with festivities, which include: Medieval festivals, chocolate festivals, opera and other cultural events. It is also famous for its “Ginga” (cherry liqueur) drunk from a chocolate cup which is then eaten…
Great stuff! The Obidos lagoon is the largest lagoon on the Portuguese coast with miles of pristine Atlantic beaches and safe, warm lagoon swimming water. Visit local restaurants with fresh fish and sea food caught in the lagoon and Atlantic daily. The lagoon is a favoured destination for radical sport enthusiasts such as windsurfing, kite-surfing and canoeing.
How to get there
Airlines such as TAP, BA, easyjet, Airlingus all fly into Lisbon which is the closets airport.
A hire car is recommended to take advantage of exploring the area.
It is approximately a 1 hour drive from Lisbon Airport. The train takes an average of 2.5 hours and a bus will take you 1.5 hours to Obidos Castle.
