About the home

Villa RiJa is located just one hour drive north of Lisbon in a 'golden triangle' of Silver Coast, Portugal, on the resort of Perola da Lagoa close to the shores of Obidos Lagoon. The villa is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac of four, has a large garden and views of the famous Obidos Lagoon. This detached 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom spacious and luxurious villa with private pool is brand new - completed in 2009. The house is an ideal place for a family or for golf lovers (discounted green fees to the golf courses in the area can be provided on request.)

Praia d'el Rey, voted best European golf destination in 2007 and 13th on Golf Top 100, is just 5 minutes away by car. Bom Sucesso golf course (3 min away), opened in 2008, designed by world renowned golf course architect Donald Steel, offers spectacular views and is a must to try. The new additional of local golf courses Royal Obidos will open in January 2012 is literally a few hundred meter away.

Obidos lagoon, just 500 m away, is where you can enjoy safe swimming or surfing, or explore the beauty of the Obidos lagoon by bike on a new cycle path along the lagoon. Numerous pristine beaches of the Atlantic coast are within a few minutes reach by car, take your pick. Medieval town of Obidos is within 15 min drive away. The weather is close to perfect all year round. In winters the temperature averages to 17C, in summers from 25C to 30C, tempered by gentle sea breeze.

When you come by plane luggage capacity is always a problem. We made sure that there are beach towels, pool toys, beach toys, beach tent and seats in the house available for our guests.

Downstairs open floor plan, one bedroom downstairs with adjacent bathroom, 2 spacious and airy bedrooms upstairs each with a large terrace/balcony and en-suit bathrooms. Master bathroom includes a bathtub.

Private gated swimming pool with a solar pool cover (rises the temperature by 6C), large garden to the rear and side of the house. Villa is outside of the main development - one of the best plots in terms of size, view and sun position.

BBQ - weber. Outdoor terraces with table, chairs and sun loungers.

Strictly no smoking except on the balcony or in the garden.

Refundable breakages deposit of €250/ £200 required in advance, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

50% of rental fee due to secure booking. All balances paid 6 weeks before arrival.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The Silver Coast is a beautiful region on the western coast of Portugal, only a short distance from Lisbon with its stunning architecture, varied restaurants and streets of shops.

The area is relatively undiscovered by tourists and so retains its Portuguese character with plenty of historical sites, characterful fishing towns and sandy beaches.

The Obidos / Bom Sucesso area

Obidos is the pride of the region, a fantastically preserved medieval Portuguese town. The whole town, which has been classified as a National Monument, was traditionally the gift of the kings of Portugal to their queens.

Nearby Peniche is the most famous locally for its numerous fish restaurants, local fish specialities being Roballo (Sea Bass), sardines and shellfish.

In Caldas da Rainha there is a fruit market open daily on the town square. Fish market is just a street away from the main square, best to visit before noon. Caldas is a vibrant portuguese town - observe the street life from one of its numerous cafes or enjoy shopping in its streets.

Situated in the naturally beautiful resort of Perola da Lagoa, at the Obidos Lagoon, the villa is within easy reach of the international Lisbon airport.

Within 1 hour of leaving Lisbon airport - you can be relaxing in this luxurious villa overlooking Obidos Lagoon. Alternatively, the villa can also be reached from the airport of Porto, which is 2,5 hours drive away.

Car Hire is essential to take advantage of the many places of interest on this very picturesque part of the Silver Coast.
