Obidos / Caldas da Rainha area
Caldas Da Rainha Thermal City, established in the endings of the XV century by Queen D. Leonor. Thermalism was the reason for the existence of the City, without doubt an enormous touristic attraction, also due to the thermal Hospital. It also offers diversifying proposals from the daily fruit market to the museological patrimony.
Places worth a visit in the City are the Malhoa Museum, the Museum House S. Rafael, the Ceramic Museum and Sculpture Museums. The touristic offer is also constituted by the beautiful beach of Foz Do Arelho, the Obidos Lagoon(Ideal for the practice of nautical sports), Obidos Castle, The Baia of Sao Martinho Do Porto, the Fortress of Peniche, the island of Baleal and the Berlenga Islands. The Monasteries of Alcobaca and Batalha are just a short drive away.
The Gastronomy has it's big expressions in the egg rolls, egg lamprey and cavacas. These sweets are references to the richness, singularity and cultural identity of the City. The best places to eat are the restaurant "A Lareira" located half way between Caldas And Foz Do Arelho and restaurant "Abrigo Do Pescador" in Peniche.
