The ancient castle, walls, museums and churches are practically on your door step. Views of the castle, church towers and ancient buildings from the patio windows in the sitting/dining room and from the bedrooms are spectacular. You will enjoy photographing your family and friends among such historic surroundings.
The house is bright, comfortably furnished and has all modern conveniences. Electric Heaters are installed .
It is in a private development of about 30 houses all specifically designed to fit in with the historic environment.
Obidos is perfect for those who like eating out, walking, enjoy golf (10 mins away) fishing, water sports and cultural events. We are offering large discounts for 4 week bookings from 1st November 2007 until 31st March 2008.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
THE SILVER COAST is an area of Portugal which is relatively undiscovered. It has many beautiful coastal villages and towns.
WE ARE OFFERING JUNE DATES FOR 300 EUROS PER WEEK.
The climate is mild and not as extreme as other parts of Europe. WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
Obidos is listed as a World Heritage Site, no doubt, due to the way in which the architectural features have been exquisitely preserved. The history of Obidos as a medieval garrison town is well documented and there are booklets and maps detailing its history and general tourist attractions is available in the house. The roads from the airport are excellent. The people are courteous and friendly and the local cuisine is exquisite. Compared to other areas of Portugal and other countries in Europe the Silver Coast area of Portugal has a healthy climate.
Obidos area
You can stroll along the walls of the castle and enjoy the scent of bougainvilla , honesuckle and the other plants and flora. Panormic views across the surrounding countryside from the battlements will rival anything that Tuscany has to offer. The architecture of the museum, castle, churches and great town houses offer examples of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque features.
During the spring and summer season there are local festival and open-air concerts are often performed free of charge. Enjoy the spectacular beauty of this little gem of a town as you walk through the narrow, cobbled streets or rest in the welcoming cafe or bar for a drink of the local liquer.
From Obidos you can take the local bus for 2 euros to the nearest town Caldas da Reinha and visit the ceramic shops which sell a variety of decorative ceramiscs straight from the factory
How to get there
Fly to Oporto (Porto) or to Lisbon . Lisbon is 50 minutes (70km) from Obidos but the flights to Oporto , which is 150 km away, are usually much cheaper.
The roads from both airports are excellent and well sign-posted. There are regular bus and train services to Obidos. Caldas na Reinha is the nearest town and well worth exploring as a typical Portuguese town.

Further details indoors: The modern kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, having all mod. cons.
There is a bathroom with bath, shower, wc, wash-hand basin and it is fully tiled. A set of six towels is provided. There is also a smaller bathroom with wash-hand basin and wc.
The two bedrooms are comfortable, light and airy and bed-linen is provided.
There is also a cot for babies or toddlers. Heaters are available for winter holidays. Long term (two months or more) Winter Lets are negotiable.
Further details outdoors: There is space for parking on the street outside the front door.
As well as having a private patio there is communal garden area and this is also suitable for family gatherings and barbecues on fine evenings.
Casa Aurora is within walking distance of all amenities and nearby are bus-stops which do regular/daily trips to local beaches and also to Lisbon.
The bus to Peniche, which is a charming fishing village, is about 100 metres from the house. There are regular trips to a National Park from Peniche.
Whilst the landscape is very picturesque during the day, at night there is an added dimension of beauty as you see the town softly silhouetted against the night sky.
There is a local internet office on the main street of Obidos which offers free internet services. There are so many interesting walks within the immediate vicinity of Casa Aurora and after dinner it is a joy to stroll among the streets and take in the sweet fragrance of the bougainvilla and other local flowers. Or you could walk towards the old viaduct for a longer walk.

A 10% discount is available for the second week of a two-week booking.
Discounts available for 3 - 4 week winter bookings or longer.
Conditions
Smoking permitted on the terrace and the balconies.
A deposit of 100 pounds stg is required to confirm the booking and the balance is payable 6 weeks before the holiday begins.
A refundable breakages deposit of £50 is required and it will be returned (subject to a satisfactory property inspection) by the agent.
