About the home

Casa Orion is built in the style of a traditional Portuguese style home, located in the beautiful countryside surrounding the historic town of Obidos. On the outskirts of a quiet village and only a few miles from the sea, this one storey villa provides the perfect getaway for complete relaxation.

The layout of the property affords as much outside living space as it does internal accommodation, enabling you to make the most of the glorious sun and temperate climate. The property is accessed through an impressive manueline-style gated entrance.

The long drive is flanked by a 12-metre pool and outbuildings containing games room, kitchen/utility room and a bathroom/shower.

The heated pool is surrounded by paved and grassed areas with poolside furniture. There is a telescopic transparent, all-weather cover which can fully enclose the pool if necessary. The outside barbeque and eating area is fully equipped and covered, making it a wonderful place to enjoy alfresco dining.

The accommodation is all on one level but there are steps down from the kitchen to the rear garden level. This area can also be accessed by a sloping drive which leads to a colonnaded avenue topped with vines.
Vines grow around the perimeter of the rear garden which is south facing. The garden has orange, lemon, mandarin & peach trees. There are also pear and fig trees on the property. Guests are welcome to help themselves to these during their stay.

The Pool:
This large sized 12 x 4 meter pool is fitted with a telescopic greenhouse type cover making it enjoyable all year round. The cover affords natural heating ensuring a wonderfully warm pool environment but can be easily slipped back to enjoy the open air experience. If necessary, the pool is heated to 26 degrees Celsius by an air source heat pump. The perfect place to relax and soak up some sun.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The spectacular coastline affords a complete range of water sports and is renown for its surfing.

A 10-minute drive will take you to the Obidos Lagoon and 20 minutes to the fabulous beaches of the Silver Coast at Bom Sucesso or Peniche. The larger resorts of Foz do Arelho and Sao Martinho do Porto are not much further away.

The Obidos area

The mediaeval walled town of Obidos, an enchanting historic site, beautifully preserved and packed with small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

There are numerous festivals throughout the year including a Chocolate festival, a Mediaeval fair and a month-long Christmas fiesta.

Casa Orion is situated 50 miles (80 km) north of Lisbon, a fifty-minute drive from the airport and is 165 miles (255 km) south of Porto, a slightly longer journey - but with a lot to see on the way, this is an interesting alternative route.

“THE BEST VILLA EVER, WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!” This villa has eveything you require for a fantastic, relaxing holiday - plus lots more! The location was beautiful, the views were amazing and the villa itself exceeded all of our expectations. The villa was a lot larger than we expected it to be, the bedrooms were perfect and the living room and kitchen were ideal. The oustide area was stunning! So many places to relax and enjoy BBQ's, our party consisted of 6 adults and we had so much outdoor space we never once felt on top of each other - it was perfect. The pool area and BBQ areas made of evening very special and a holiday not to forget. The extra touches such as: access to a PC and internet, SKY TV, a SatNav with great recommendation already programmed in! plus a very detailed book of places to visit made our holiday even more enjoyable. The biggest bonus - the games room! Table tenis, darts, table football, computer games and flat screen tv - and a bar! What more could you want! We will 100% be returning :-)
