About the home

A beautifully well presented, generously proportioned, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom detached villa finished to a high standard with its own swimming pool, garage and landscaped private garden all set in beautiful surroundings. A concierge service is available on request offering food shopping, home cooked meals, beauty therapy and babysitting.

Pinhal Village is located in Perola da Lagoa on the south western corner of the Obidos Lagoon, on Portugal's Silver Coast. It is just 45 minutes drive from the cool and sophisticated capital Lisbon and within easy reach of great amenities, atmospheric Medieval towns, authentic fishing villages, stunning scenery and world class golfing. The Obidos Lagoon forms a large coastal inlet from the Atlantic offering sheltered swimming for families and great sailing and surfing opportunities. It has the best of both worlds: wild Atlantic vistas of crashing waves and impressive cliffs, coupled with family friendly sandy beaches. The Lagoon is surrounded by a cool green forest nature reserve and is blessed with truly breathtaking views.

Cortico Beach is only a five minute drive/10 minute walk from the villa and has stunning sandy beaches and interesting inlets. The Corsico Seafood Restaurant that perches on the cliff at the point where the Lagoon meets the ocean is stunning. The views from this restaurant are spectacular. Sit on the leather sofas on the decked veranda and enjoy the scenery.

GOLF: The new Donald Steel designed Bom Sucesso is less than a 5 minute drive. World renowned championship golf course Praia D'el Rey is a 10 minute drive.

Obidos is the nearby medival town situated within castle walls. It is a truely special place, incredibly pretty but full of culture and history. Wander along the castle walls to get a fantastic rooftop view of the town. Visit the many authentic local bars and restaurants scattered along the cobbled streets. Taste the traditional cherry liquor served in miniature chocolate cups. Experience the ambience and decadence of 13th century St Peter's church and witness a Portuguese wedding!

Foz is a 20 minute drive away but well worth a visit. It sits on the other side of the Lagoon. Rustic beach cafes are positioned along the beachside. The views of the estuary from any one of these cafes are spectacular! The atmosphere is chilled and quiet. There are also a couple of fish restaurants on this stretch worth a visit serving the best fresh sea bass, mackerel or sardines. The beach is vast, sandy and great for the children.

My family and I feel very lucky to have discovered this very special part of the world. It really is a great place to relax and enjoy spectacular scenery. A real get away!

The Lagoon is surrounded by a cool green forest nature reserve and is blessed with truly breathtaking views. Close by is the beautiful walled town of Obidos. The town was originally a wedding gift bestowed by the King of Portugal to his new Queen and it certainly feels a very romantic spot. The cobbled streets are packed with bars and restaurants, shops selling local crafts and wines. Idyllic white houses with terracotta roofs, overflowing with vivid flowers are in abundance.

Sao Martinho do Porto with its gorgeous shell shaped beach and excellent amenities is only 30 minutes drive from Pinhal Village.

Flights

Easyjet flies daily to Lisbon from £45 return, as do BA and a Portugese airline TAP. Flight time is only 2 hours 30 minutes. Ryanair offers cheap flights from Dublin, Liverpool and Stanstead to Porto Airport which is in the north, approx 2 hour drive from the silver coast.

Car hire

Car hire is among the cheapest in Europe here and all the major car hire companies have offices in Portugal. Prices start from £120 per week for a family sized car. Easyjet also offer good deals should you choose to fly with them.

“A nice place in a beautiful area” We were two families with two teenage girls who stayed at the place for 2 weeks. The villa was perfect, nice and clean. The area is really beautiful, with small villages and magnificent beaches to explore. The adults thought it was a perfect place for leisure and relaxation, but the teens probably thought the area was a bit quiet in length. But they loved the villa and the big bathroom. You need a car to get around.

“Perfect place for a family with young children” We had a great stay at the house. The property was clean, new and very spacious. The location is very calm and quiet. There are several places close by that are worth visiting, Obidos, Peniche and several wineries. The lagun that is close by is really beautiful. The fish restaurant looking out over the lagun is worth a visit. The area is beautiful and the house was everything we hoped it would be. Martin from Sweden

“A beautiful and quiet place to stay to relax and explore” We have stayed at Villa 46 with my family for about 10 days and it was truly excellent. This villa is perfectly equipped with everything you need, the garden with swimming pool is great and even a housekeepers come to clean the pool and cut the grass. For groceries it is couple minutes by car to Obidos where there is a great supermarket. For the best beach experience it is also just couple minutes away - the sea is very clear, one can do kiting on the beach or other sport activities and there is also very good restaurant. The seafood there is splendid! Overall, our impression was very good and we would highly recommend it to both families and friends!

It is available from the beginning of October until the end of April and includes water, community taxes, towels and bed linen. Electricity and gas are not included. Rental payments must be paid monthly in advance. Take your own car on the ferry to Santander. It is approximately a 7 hour drive from there.
