Clan Cottages - MacNeil
About the home
Clan MacNeil cottage is in a beautiful rural location, however it is also just 5 miles from the town of Oban and all its amenities. Clan Cottages have been awarded a 4 star Visit Scotland Quality Assurance award and were regional finalists in 2012 Visit Scotland Scottish Thistle Awards. Clan Cottages have also gained a Gold Green Tourism Award.
Our 2 bedroom Clan MacNeil cottage has a lovely patio overlooking the RiverNell. It has a lovely double ensuite bedroom with spa jacuzzi bath with over bath shower and his and hers sinks. The main bathroom has a large walk in shower. The other bedroom is a spacious twin room with zip and link beds which can be linked together to make a kingsize bed if requested. The beds are shown linked together in the photo on the website. We also have a fold down or inflatable single bed to sleep your 5th person if this is fits your requirements.
Our cottages are on a single track road, just under a mile from the main road into Oban which takes about 6 minutes in the car.
The area around the cottages is perfect for walking and cycling. The single track road which starts right at the entrance to our cottages runs through Glen Lonan to Taynuilt. It is a very quiet and picturesque route and you will pass a herd of pedigree Highland cattle which graze on the road verges.
Going in the other direction through the Muasdale glen is also good for cycling though it is slightly more challenging with more hills. There are a number of off road forestry tracks for cycling in the area, one of which is only half a mile from our cottages.
Just across the road from our cottages in the field opposite is the Serpents Mound which has a chambered cairn at its head. If you visit the website www.megalithic.co.uk and type in Serpent Mound - Loch Nell you will be able to read all about it. There are quite a lot of archaeological features in the area including the iron age crannog which is in Loch Nell just off the shores of the cottages.
There is fishing available in Loch Nell and the River Nell for brown trout, sea trout and salmon.
