Home description

The lodge sits in the lovely 100 acre gardens of the world famous Portsonachan Hotel. The Hotel provides the back up services and facilities to make your stay at this stunning location truly memorable. There are Boats both Motor & rowing from withwhich can explore the 27 miles of this fresh water Loch with its fantastic Fishing ( Both coarse & game free as a resident) plus castles and Islands to explore OR take one of oue Mountain Bikes and explore the Lochside 69 miles of roads (Sizes to suit Adults 7 Children). There is a great eating experience waiting both in the Cruachan Room (A la carte or Lochside Conservatory Bar Meals) all food is freshly prepared from as much as possible from local produce. There is also a great bar adjoining the Lochside Conservatory which offers an extensive range of drinks including 50+ "Malts".

This is truly a location to just get away from the "hurly burly" of city life and just relax and soak in the stunning scenery and atmosphere of this historic place.

The Highlands region

The Estate is on the Banks of Loch Awe with 100 acres plus of superb grounds with approx a mile of the foreshore with direct access for fishing walking boating etc . As the whole estate sits in the Gulf Stream the climate both summer and winter is mild and has lush vegitation and stunning aray of colours from the varied plant life. Dear are in abundance and are often seen swimming the Loch and if you are careful you will see our Otters and Pine Martins playing by the waters edge of an evening. The Loch is also famous for its Ospreys which in residence from april through to September and are a magnificent sight when they are fishing off our shore. Buzzards are plentiful and ply for prey with our resident Golden Eagles which will normally see year round soaring over the Estate.


Oban / Dalmally area

Oban gives you access to the western Isles with Mull being the closest 20 ferry crossing but all the Islands are reached from Oban. Dalmally is 8 miles away and gives access to Glen Orchy which connects to the magnificent Glen Coe & Rannoch More, a ride which is truly one of the most awe inspireing in the world. On from Glen Coe you can reach Fort William and ben nevis the UK's highest Mountain at just under 5000ft and you ride to the top of its sister Mountain from Fort Willian on the Cable Car and experience views over the Firth of Lorne. Inverary is just 12 miles away and this is the seat of the Duke of Argyll and The Clan Campbell and the castle is open from easter through to October each year.

From Glasgow take the A82 to Tarbet then take the A83 to Inverary and fork right under the WHITE ARCH to Dalmallt 8 miles look for signpost to Claddich & Portsonachan which points to a turning (Sharp) on the left Follow this road fro 2.7 miles down the side of Loch Awe towards Ford and you come to Portsonachan.

The lounge is equipped with Colour TV, DVD, Video, HiFi Cd player, three seat sofa, two armchairs and further seating for 8 plus coffee table

All the bedrooms have large wardrobes either built in or free standing and the large hall area allows for a wet area and storage of outside clothing.

The lodges sit some 30 yds from the lochshore giving direct access and have stunning views of the Loch. All the lodges have a large leisure deck on the front over looking the Loch with seating for 8 and builtin BBQ . There is also direct access to the Sauna and bathroom facilities from the deck. The Hotel will also hire Mountain Bikes boats & windsurfers on either daily rates or weekly plus boating trips are available for general sight seeing or fishing trips in our 6M launch rates are £150.00 for the day capacity 6 adults or £90.00 for half a day. (0900 to 1700 day 0900 to 1300 or 1300 to 1700 half day) If required for fishing with our guide then add a further 350 to the dat rate and £30 to half day rate and please book the fishing guide when you book your holiday. loch Awe holds the National record for Brown trout at 31lb 12oz caught 2005 and produces very many double figure fish and also holds a large population of monster Pike & Perch. Species in the loch are Salmon, Sea trout, Char, Brown trout, Rainbow Trout, Pike, Perch & various coarse fish in certain parts of this 27 mile long water.

Terms are 25% deposit with booking with balance payable 30 days prior to arrival
Dogs are welcome and there is a charge of £5.00 per dog per night maximum two dogs which must be kept on lead at all times.

A security deposit is taken on a credit card impression on arrival and we ask guests to clear any damage or breakages before departure Our reception staff will inspect any damage if informed otherwise a house keeping report on damage will be submitted post departure a charge made to your Card for the damage or breakage.

All our Units are totally non smoking and we hold the right to charge any party £100 if smoking is detected. All units are fitted with full smoke detection for your safety and we would ask all guests to take note there is a full public area smoking ban in Scotland.


Conditions

The property can be specified with a Hot Tub which sits on the front leisure deck overlooking the Loch. The weekly charge is £70.00 plus electricity at cost . The lodge also has a full Sauna and you can also specify an Exercise Room equipped with exercise bike
