The Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Argyll and Bute region
Oban, wildly known as the "Gateway to the Isles" and the "Seafood Capital of Scotland" is surrounded by panoramic views of mountains, lochs and islands, that have inspired poets, artists and composers for centuries.
Originally a small fishing village, it's popularity as a tourist destination exploded during the Victoria era when steamers would stop by regularly when routing from Glasgow to Inverness. Once the railway reached Oban, it never looked back.
Queen Victoria even went as far to describe it as "One of the finest places we have seen"
The Oban area
Whether you're in Scotland for 18 holes of golf, looking to explore the west coast's breathtaking scenery either by foot or by sail, or even just to sample the finest seafood the ocean has to offer over a dram of Whiskey, then this little town is the perfect destination for your Scottish holiday.
