The Old Mill is a house full of character and atmosphere. A substantial detached house, it began life as a mill worker's cottage but has grown over the years to become a spacious and stylish home. Decorated and refurbished with care, it retains period flavour but combines it with modern convenience.

There are 8 individually decorated bedrooms, all with zip and link beds so that the sleeping arrangements can be tailored to suit each party. 5 bathrooms, 3 of which are en suite, and a cloakroom mean that, even when the house is full, there are no long queues for the loo.

The kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances you need to making mass catering a pleasure but, if you prefer, we can arrange for your very own chef to come and cook for you. The spacious dining room seats 30 [more at a push] and is the ideal place for celebrations.

The beds are zip and link so that you can chose how many singles or kings you want. There are 3 separate sitting rooms plus a big dining room that is a great venue for parties and is large enough to seat the guests at both Blandfords and The Old Mill together.

The house sprawls and has a total of 7 staircases. Most of these are only a couple of steps high but it does mean that the house is not ideal for anyone with mobility problems. As well as a big flat screen TV, DVD player and CD player, there is plenty of old fashioned entertainment on offer in the form of books, toys and games for all ages.

Further details outdoors

The village of Oakridge is blissfully quiet and very pretty. The walks around the village and in the surrounding stunning countryside are lovely.

We provide plenty of garden furniture for you to relax in and a selection of basic garden games to keep you entertained but we can also arrange for Bouncy Castles, Sumo Suits etc to be brought in.

There is a local clay pigeon shoot that offers reasonably priced tuition for our guests while riding, golf and gliding are a short drive away.

Further details

In order to book, we required a 50% non-refundable deposit which we are happy to take by credit card. We also take a refundable £150 damage deposit, along with the balance, six weeks prior to your arrival. We refund this, providing that there have been no problems, within 7 working days of your departure.

Because of our non-refundable deposit policy, we do urge you to take out cancellation insurance which we are happy to arrange for you.

The Cotswolds region

The honey coloured stone buildings that make up the distinctive architecture of the Cotswolds are famous the world over and the villages of the North Cotswolds heave with visitors the year round.

The South Cotswolds which, we like to think are more beautiful, are less touristy but still offer the traveller plenty to enjoy.

All the traditional country pursuits are readily available with large doses of culture and shopping thrown in for good measure.

Oakridge Lynch

Stroud, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Tetbury and Bath are a short drive away.

Oxford and Stratford are a little further but still easy to get to and from within a day.

If you like trees, take a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. Lovely at any time of the year, it is particularly beautiful, I think, in the autumn.

Country fairs, music festivals, cheese rolling and the like abound.

"Fabulous place for an old friends' reunion"

Ours was a last minute booking for a group of 11 adults and 7 kids from toddler to teenagers. The property could not have been better for our group. It was easy to accommodate the right combination of singles and doubles and the beds were comfortable with quality linen. Several separate living areas meant the kids could go off and do their thing and the patio was a glorious spot to sit on a fine summer evening. The garden is beautiful, sprawling and not too manicured. Apart from short walks we barely left the house. High quality kitchen appliances plus a very large fridge meant self-catering was easy. Plenty of crockery and glasses. We ate at the pub the first night (Butchers Arms). They were unfazed by our large group but prefer more notice than we gave them. Good food and beer.
Overall a really charming house to which we hope to return. One thing: a name sign outside the property would be really helpful. The google map is insufficiently detailed. We had to ask at the shop for directions, and evidently we were not the first to do so.
