Villa | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 16
A cozy Villa nestled in a 100 acre high altitude (over 3,500 feet above sea level) tea plantation in the central hills of Sri Lanka. Boarded floors and paneled walls surrounded by luxurious furnishing, its a perfect blend of warmth and coziness inside, whilst outside the temperatures could drop to 15 degrees Celsius. Bouquets of flowers adorn the gardens which overlook rolling hills of Tea fields.
The luxurious experience is a typical Tea Planters life in the colonial days of the bygone era where privacy, personalized service, and a pampered life was the norm.
Come experience the story of Tea by exploring the hills, plucking tea leaves and finishing your adventure with a warm cup of tea that is sure to leave you in bliss.
For the adventurous, a hike to Horton Plains National Park (The cloud forest of Sri Lanka) and it's amazing vegetation and wildlife, biking through the Tea trails and bird watching are all part of the location. A short drive and a 4 hour climb to the pinnacle of Adams Peak to watch the stunning sunrise and the great mountain, cast it's shadow on the rolling forest below is an awesome sight.

The Central Province region
This region is predominantly covered in Tea Plantations and cloud forests. The region is famous for it's lovely climate ranging from 15 - 26 degrees Celsius all year round and it's scenic beauty.
The mountains are carpets of green covered in Tea fields. It's an idyllic laid back lifestyle with walks and lounging being most of the day's occupation.
Trekking and biking through the Tea fields is a wonderful experience and for the adventurous a short drive to the border of Horton Plains via Diyagama East and trek to worlds end is an out of the world experience. The vegetation and wildlife in this national park is unique and beautiful with stunning views and scenery.
An hours drive and one could reach Nuwara Eliya which is a quaint city in the highest altitude of the country is a place to visit and see.
Another name for Nuwara Eliya is "Little England" which basically says it all. A wonderful town with golf courses and horse racing tracks, beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking a massive lake are some of the attractions in the region.

"Excellent Place to Realx"
Iona Bungalow is a well maintained property built buy the British Planter in very beautiful location. It is a nice place to relax with family and friends. A Quiet and Cold covered with Green Tea bushes.
Staff is friendly and always there for assistance. The Srilankan food we had was marvellous.
The road leading to the bungalow is very narrow for quite some distance. if you are not a confident driver, get someone to drive you. I enjoyed driving up there in a 4 wheel drive.
We stayed at Iona for two days and it was raining from the time we checked-in until we checked-out. The crowd was only 6 adults. This made us feel extremely bored. Suggest to avoid the wet season and to travel with a bigger crowd.

"Excellent place to get away from the daily rush"
We stayed 2 nights at Iona and loved every moment. The accommodation, food and staff are fantastic. Kamalina the Resident Manager and her team really look into every detail to make your stay memorable. This place is away from the usual touristy areas and in the middle of Sri Lankas most beautiful tea country...so peaceful and there are some fantastic treks and cycling trails. A short walk or ride from the Bungalow brings you to some visually beautiful scenery. We loved our stay and would definitely go back again.
