Two hundred year old, charming, Danish farm house, available by the week. Located in the idyllic Danish countryside on the island of Falster. One hour drive, south of copenhagen; motorway almost all the way. Can sleep 5 comfortably. Three bedrooms, living room, kitchen, toilet, shower room, enclosed porch and a lovely private garden with many fruit trees and berry bushes. Only one kilometre to sea, small boat harbour and swimming; about 20 minutes drive to one of Denmark’s best beaches, swimming pool, golfing and many tourist attractions. Local shopping about 10 minutes drive; one hour drive to Copenhagen. Equipment: dish washer, refrigerator, electric stove, washing machine, wood burning and electric heaters, DVD, bicycles.

The Zealand / Copenhagen / Falster region

Enjoy a pleasant hour or two window-shopping on Storegade, the main thoroughfare and relax in one of the many cafés and restaurants located there. Pay a visit to the 13th-century Stege Kirke, whose ceiling features some quirky frescoes restored in 1892, or marvel at the Molleporten, one of the best-preserved medieval gates in Denmark. North of Stege is the Ulvshale strand, one of the best beaches on the entire island nestled against a wild forest criss-crossed by a network of nature trails and hiking tracks. With much of its landscape taken up by marshland, Mon offers perfect opportunities for the amateur birdwatcher to pass a fascinating afternoon spotting some local and migratory birds from one of the many birdwatching sites scattered strategically around.

The neighboring island of Falster is almost entirely devoted to farming and features on its landscape a number of farming villages and homesteads. Make sure to make a trip to the southeastern coast of the island, which features a wonderful stretch of white sand beaches, the best of which is located at Marielyst. Featuring the most glorious stretch of beach on the island, Marielyst is one of the top holiday destinations in Denmark and features some 6000 summer cottages and a myriad of places to eat, drink and relax.
