La Carrière
About the home
The house is equipped with all the facilities you are likely to need, and has been designed with an upstairs salon for enjoying views of the forest , which is the home of deer, wild boar and masses of birds. Children particularly will enjoy exploring, and the large grassed area is ideal for games. There are plenty of leisure facilities (including golf and fishing) within easy reach.
Many of the most famous chateaux - for example, Chinon (with its great battlements); the romantic jewel of Azay-le-Rideau; Ussé, of Sleeping Beauty fame; Villandry, renowned for its formal flower gardens - and other tourist attractions of the Loire are within an hour's drive. And vineyards and markets galore!

The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region

'The garden of France' and 'The playground of the Kings' - just two of the descriptions that have been used for the Loire Valley. Apart from the beauty of the chateaux and the river (cruises available), the region has much else of interest - for example: wine growing (and tasting!) around Bourgueil (Tuesday market the best in the area), troglodyte caves to visit, sophisticated shopping in Angers and Tours - all within an hour's drive.
If you want to make a day of it, try the splendid zoo at Doué, or the space-age Futuroscope at Poitiers, or the Vendée coast at La Rochelle or Les Sables d'Ollone.
You can expect plenty of sunshine in spring and summer, with temperatures typically from 20 - 35C.
The Noyant area
The nearest town is 7 km away at Noyant, with restaurants , bars, shops and a supermarket - and a good Friday morning market.
A 20 minute drive takes you to Rillé, where you can spend a very pleasant day, with lots of walks around the lake, safe swimming, a miniature railway and bird sanctuary.
There is a well-renowned golf course at Baugé (22 km away). You can take on the big fish of the Loire, or fish in several local lakes (particularly Mouliherne - 8 km).
At Saumur (25 mins), visit the world famous horse school, the mushroom museum and the tank museum.
