The Loire Valley region

Noyant is a small country town at the centre of the Loire, (within an hours drve to Saumur, Angers, Tours or Le Mans)

In Noyant: a butcher, two bakers, a supermarket, a newsagents with English newspapers, a beautician, several hairdresses and bars, two chemists, a pizzeria and three restaurants.

Noyant

Le Vaurouleau provides you with the best of both worlds -perfectly tranquil and yet within easy reach of the many chateaux and vineyards for which the region is famed.

If you want a totally relaxing and peacful holiday you can enjoy peaceful country walks, a short bike ride into or around Noyant and a dip in our pool.

Or there are plenty of things to visit in the area, the Loire isn’t famous for nothing! Here are just a few suggestions: Chateaux at Gizeux, Ussé, Baugé, Saumur, Angers, Tours, the lakes in which you can go fishing and swimming, the musée Jules Desbois at Parçay Les Pins (less than 10 minutes away)..and all this is in just a twenty minute radius.

Extremely close by (that is say 15-20minutes drive)

-Château de Breil

-Musée Jules Desbois Parçay Les Pins

-Château du Lude

-Château de Baugé

-château at Gizeux

-golf at Baugé

-fishing lakes at Rille , Hommes and Château la Vallière you can swim, fish, sail.

Quite close (30-45minutes)

- Saumur: everything about the town is worth seeing: food, drink, château, the pretty streets and summer festivals, a tank museum, the « mousseux » caves where you can see how our version of champagne is made, followed by a tasting of course! And I lustn’t forget the troglodyte caves of Doué la Fontaine, or the Château under the Château at Brézé.

-The magnificent zoo at Doué

- La Flèche: good markets and pretty town to visit, a new swimming pool and bowling alley and lake for water games and paddling, the zoo.

Not too far but worth a day out (One hour drive)

- Angers: pretty town centre, river Maine, the Château and its tapesrty and many other places to visit.

Brand new, opened in 2010 Terra Botanica a theme park dedicated to plants, sounds strange but worth a visit.

- Tours: the city and all in it!

-Le Mans: the circuit and museum, town centre well worth seeing.

I have mentioned the main attractions, of course there are many, many more, I haven’t mentioned The Chateaux of the Loire, Villandry, Chinon, Chenonceau…etc

Sleeping Beauty’s castle is under an hour’s drive away at Ussé.

Many wine tasting caves, we are at the cross-roads between Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Saumur and Saumur-Champigny wine, Montlouis and Vouvray are just the other side of Tours to name but afew of the most well-known names.

Futoroscope for older children and teenagers is a must and if you fancy going a bit further le Puy du Fou.

"fabulous modern interior excellent outdoor area with pool"

The gite was in a lovely setting surrounded by sunflowers. The rooms upstairs were large and comfortably furnished. Downstairs the room included a large table that easily seated the seven of us. The kitchen was well equipped and had every utensil, plate, glass or cooking item you could need, The downstairs shower room was very modern and complete with towels. The pool outside made the holiday. We visited many places of interest in the local area. We really enjoyed Da Vinci's house and Chinon.

"Ticks all the boxes"

I was looking for a location that was close enough from the EuroTunnel or Calais, where I wouldn't waste two full days of my holiday driving to and from it.
Of paramount importance was a location that had a swimming pool in which to relax.
I was very impressed as soon as I arrived at Le Vaurouleau. It was decorated to a modern and high standard and was very clean. The pool was also modern and clean.
I liked it's location, very secluded and quiet - but close enough to Noyant to get provisions from the Intermarche supermarket. I felt reassured that the owners were close by.
It ticked all the boxes for me, which is why I'm returning there on two separate occasions in 2013!
