Our house was built in 2006 and is enclosed by a walled landscaped garden. It has a spacious living room, a well equipped modern kitchen, a shady ground floor terrace and a sunny patio for alfresco eating. There is shady secure parking for 2 cars. Located at the quiet edge of the small village of Vabriga, 10 minutes walk from the sea. There are several restaurants and local shops in walking distance. It is just 10 minutes by car to both lively town of Porec and scenic Novigrad. Open hearth and modern central heating also on hand for winter rental.

The Istria region
Istria has a long history of occupation from Roman times, its architecture was heavily influenced by the Venetians especially along the west coast. Italian is still spoken along the coastal strip by many people including Vabriga. There are also many hill top walled towns scattered through the rolling countryside. Istria has very characteristic red soils and produces some excellent wines and olive oil that you can buy locally at reasonable prices. So you can combine a sun holiday with visits to wineries, olive oil producers or little inland restaurants selling the local specialties of seafood, truffles, Istrian cured ham, cheeses etc.
Novigrad / Vabriga Tar area
Novigrad is a pretty port town just north of Vabriga. You can watch the sun set in waterside restaurants and cafes or eat an ice cream while strolling through the narrow streets.
Vabriga where our house is located is a quite village with a small number of local restaurants and a mini-market that sells "everything" including great fresh baked bread and is open all day every day in the summer season.
How to get there
Several airports served by low cost carriers are close by: Pula - Croatia (60 mins by car - 60km) Triest - Italy (90 mins by car -110km) Rijeka - Croatia (90 mins by car -109km) Ljubljana - Slovenia (120 mins by car - 170km) Note: In the high season you may have to wait at the border crossing between Slovenia and Croatia.

Further details outdoors: Located at the quiet edge of the small village of Vabriga, the house is 10 minutes walk from the sea. All nearby beaches are of pebble and stone with crystal clear waters. Boat hire is also available nearby. Vabriga & the nearby twin village of Tar offer numerous restaurants and local shops and you are 10 minutes by car from the lively town of Porec. The attractive coastal town of Novigrad is also just a few minutes by car. Inland you will find vineyards, olive groves (and some say the best olive oil in the world) as well as quite villages in the Istrian countryside. The historic Venetian town of Rovijn and Pula with its Roman amphitheatre are also only short drives away. You can also make day trip excursions to Triest (by road) and Venice (by high speed ferry from Porec) or even into the beautiful Slovenian Alps for the more adventurous visitor.
Conditions
The pool is 140 cm (4.5 ft) deep at the shallow end and is not suitable for children who are non-swimmers.
A 300 EUR refundable breakages deposit is required. 25% non refundable deposit by bank transfer or paypal (but add 3.5% to price to cover paypal fees) secures booking. Remaining balance due 6 weeks before start of visit. Thereafter no refund possible; so make sure you arrange travel cancellation insurance.
