Home description

This house is on two floors. It has three full sized bedrooms, two full sized bathrooms, one with a bathtub, one shower and a living room with stereo and dvd player. It has a cute kitchen furbished with what is needed for cooking a good, healthy mediterrenean meal. It's little garden gives you a corner to relax and enjoy nature while being in town. The house sits on the edge of the town overlooking the valley behind with glimpses of the sea. It is recently refurbished in a comfortable, homey, yet elegant style with some particular artistic touches.
It's location offers easy access to the seaside, historical sites and leisurely strolls through the beautiful city of Noto. Shops of all sorts are just meters away, to get a feeling of what it is like living in a small southern Sicilian town, shopping, cooking, eating and just relaxing.

The Sicily region

Sicily is an island full of surprises. With an incredible history and amazing natural resources, it is an adventure playground for history buffs as well as nature lovers. It is hot in the summer, cooling down by mid September and offering a beautiful climate through the fall, even for Christmas. January and February are what we consider the winter months, but are very mild compared to the rest of Europe. By March, we may have some rain, or the days may already seem to be early summer, depending on the year and by April and May the weather is usually ideallic until the summer heat sets in at the end of June. The history on Sicily goes from the prehistoric to Barocco to Liberty and can be witnessed in every corner you turn. The nature is varied from tropical-like forests to deserts of stone and uncontaminated beaches. Sicily is a land to explore, discover and enjoy.

Noto area

From the the Necropolis of Pantalica to the nature reserve of Vendicari, the baroc of Noto to the lakes of Cava Grande south-eastern Sicily offers a wide range of interesting and beautiful sites and retreats. Noto holds the Infiorata or "flower festival" in mid-May along with a variety of other festive activities during the year. Noto is centrally located and close to many of the interesting sites in the area. It offers a lovely. relaxing stroll through the streets of baroc sicily, a delicious selection of high-quality restaurants to choose from and a lively taste of everyday life in Sicily. It is 5 kilometers from the sea with beautiful crystal clear water and smooth, fine sandy beaches. In the near-by sea towns, a variety of water-activities from boating to scuba-diving can be enjoyed. Noto is close to Siracusa, but doesn't have the same chaotic business of the city, it's a great place to use as a home-base for exploring this part of Sicily.

How to get there

Direct flights to Catania from Gatwick with Air Malta is the fastest and easiest. Ryan Air to Palermo is the cheapest, but then you must travel about 5 hours to get to Noto either by bus or car. There are numerous rental car companies. Avis has good reliable service. From mainland Italy, take the ferry to Messina or Catania and then drive to Noto. As soon as you arrive in Noto, follow signs for the hospital, turn North on Via Principe Umberto, it is the last house on the right, bordering the valley behind.

The upstairs has the kitchen stocked with several fresh, local cooking essentials. There are two sitting rooms, one with a sofa bed and one with television, dvd player and stereo. Some dvds, cds and books are provided. All sheets and towels are provided. The upstairs bedrooms are spacious, and airy. All rooms have ceiling fans to ward off the sicilian summer heat. The winters are mild and little heating is necessary, especially in this antique house with its thick stone walls.

Conditions

We ask for a deposit of 20% to reserve the house that can be transferred directly to the bank.
