The East Anglia region

Wymondham, pronounced 'Windham' is an attractive, historic market town in the county of Norfolk. With its red roofs and the massive towers of the Abbey church set against green fields of the Tiffey Valley, Wymondham has maintained its market town atmosphere with an attractive town centre, some outstanding old buildings, a good range of shops and tea rooms.

Fifty Damgate Street is a short stroll from the town's delightful Market Cross, Wymondham's main shopping area, containing some lovely mid-seventeeth century properties and narrow medieval streets.

If you like taking in the local history, one 'must-see' is Wymondham's magnificent, twin towered Abbey, founded in 1107 by William d'Albini and has been adapted over the centuries. At the top end of town is the Wymondham Heritage Museum at the Bridewell This building was a former prison (until 1827), women's house of correction (until 1878), a police station (until 1963) and a magistrates court (until 1991). It is now a museum showing local Wymondham history. At the lower end of town is Becket's Chapel, which now houses Wymondham Arts centre.

And what better way to simply relax and unwind after a day's sightseeing or shopping than over a pint of locally brewed ale in one of the nearby pubs. The Green Dragon, the oldest inn in Wymondham, is especially charming with Tudor windows from the sixteenth century -well worth a swift pint to take a look inside!

If you want to venture slightly further afield, the cottage is also perfectly located to enjoy the wide range of attractions that make up the tapestry of this beautiful county, including the miles of unspoilt coastline, picturesque villages and historic market towns as well as the magical waterlands of the Norfolk Broads.
