The Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline. A haven for walkers, the area also boasts great cycling, gliding, riding and fishing, whilst North York Moors Railway is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery in a more relaxed setting. Visit the market towns of Pickering or Thirsk; the latter famous for its links with the English country vet and author, James Herriot.
Nearby, some of Yorkshire’s best-loved villages including Thornton-le-Dale and Rosedale Abbey offer a taste of village life, as does Goathland, ‘Aidensfield’ in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’. Finally, stop off at Castle Howard and Duncombe Park, two of Britain’s most historic stately homes situated in breathtaking parklands and gardens. The cliffs, sandy beaches and smugglers’ caves of the Yorkshire coastline are a haven for beachcombers and coastal walkers.
Discover the quaint fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, with their brightly coloured fishing boats. Finally, there’s the historic city of York, with its interactive Viking Centre, Roman walls, medieval streets, vibrant shops and gothic York Minster cathedral.
The Northallerton / Thornton-le-Moor area
Between the historic towns of Thirsk and Northallerton and at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas - the Wiske and the Cod Beck – lies the peaceful village of Thornton le Moor. Situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Vale of York between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales, this lovely town is a great base for any walking enthusiast. The settlement itself dates back to Roman times and the old village is composed of two rows of brick-built houses which reflect the rich Georgian and Victorian architecture. Within the village is a pub called The Black Swan which serves fine ales and excellent food. For other amenities, the market town of Northallerton offers excellent shopping facilities and a weekly market.

Guestbook for 3535 - Turpin
In over 25 years of renting cottages, usually 5/6 per year so that's a few, this is up there with best ever.

,The holiday was excellent. Our stay at Turpin was faultless. Very clean, very comfortable and the owner made us feel very welcome - especially with regards to our 4 month old daughter. We were also given a lovely welcome pack. We will return without fail. Recommend to all.

,Everything was wonderful again. Turpin Cottage is perfect for us and the owner is always so welcoming.
The only even remotely bad thing about giving a good review is that the cottage may not be available for us in the future!! Jessica however deserves every credit and rating possible, the cottages are just amazing.
Mrs Rimell, Redditch, Worcestershire

,This was the best cottage we have ever rented, either from you or anybody else since renting cottages for the last 20 years.
