Home description
A spacious 3-bedroom Victorian cottage, in a quiet location overlooking fields, yet just 25 minutes by train to Central London, and 15 minutes from London Heathrow.
It has bags of character and is located on the outskirts of the charming old village of Denham; a village remarkably lost in time with its village green, pubs and church.
The cottage was originally built for the railway workers at the turn of the century, and has lots of original features like cast iron fireplaces, old doors and high ceilings. It has since been extended to provide spacious family accommodation with a ‘farmhouse’ style kitchen, a family room, a sitting room, a downstairs WC, three bedrooms, a bathroom, private gardens and parking for two cars.
It would be perfect for a family or group of friends wanting a house with green space around it, yet within easy access to both Central London and the south of England.

The South East England / Greater London region
Just five minutes from the M25/M40 motorway junction, you wouldn’t think that you were just outside Central London! It makes a great base from which to tour the south of England, and is very conveniently placed to visit towns like Windsor & Eton, Marlow, Henley-on-Thames, Aylesbury, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. At the gateway to the rolling Chiltern Hills, you can also enjoy the many scenic walks and cosy pubs.
Other nearby places to visit are Royal Ascot, Legoland in Windsor, Beckonscott model village at Beaconsfield, Thorpe Park amusement park, Black Park country park, Burnham Beeches parkland and the National Trusts Cliveden House.
North-West London / Denham Village area
Denham Village is a beautiful old village located to the west of London, approximately 18 km north of London Heathrow airport. Famous for its old Film Studios, the village was until recently best known as being the home of the late actor Sir John Mills.
With a choice of 3 oldie-worldie pubs (our favourite being the gastro pub ‘The Swan’) and a restaurant, you can enjoy excellent food and drinks, in the gardens during the summer or by the log fire in the winter.
The house is just a 2 minute walk from Denham train station, where you can take an air-conditioned train to London Marylebone (stopping at Wembley Stadium) within 25 minutes. Within 40 minutes of leaving home you can be sightseeing, shopping or enjoying a West-End show! At the end of a long day, a quick train ride home and you can soon be enjoying the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside.
Denham has its own small aerodrome, so if you have your private pilots licence, you can take a plane in or out from here! There is also a choice of 2 golf courses within walking distance of the house.
Local shopping facilities and some restaurants are very nearby with a small supermarket, post office, butchers, wine shop and chemist just 100 metres away.

Further details indoors: The cottage has a ‘farmhouse style’ kitchen, with an exposed-brick chimney and wood burner. It’s the focal point of the house and everyone usually congregates around the long table! It is very well equipped for cooking and dining and has a double oven, gas hob, large fridge and freezer, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. There is also an iron & ironing board.
A recently built family-room is combined with the kitchen and has views over the garden. It’s furnished with a comfortable sofa bed, a writing desk and Hi-Fi. Just off this room is a downstairs WC.
At the front of the house there is a small sitting room with seating for three, a log burning fireplace, a TV (with digital channels), a DVD player and views over the open fields to the front.
Upstairs there is a large master bedroom, furnished with a solid oak king-sized bed and fitted wardrobes. This bedroom has beautiful original features like a cast-iron fireplace, polished wood floors, sloping ceilings and cottage windows, offering views over the fields to the front. The second bedroom is also furnished with a king-sized bed (which can be separated into two 75cm wide singles) and an antique pine wardrobe. The third bedroom is furnished with a single bed (which has an additional pull out bed underneath) and an antique pine wardrobe. To make your nights completely snug, all of our bedding is ‘feather and down’ filled and the bed linen is cotton.
The bathroom is located between the three bedrooms, and has a bath, a good shower over the bath, a washbasin and a WC. A large window makes it a ‘loo with a view’ over the surrounding fields and countryside!
A foldaway travel cot and a baby gate are available upon request. We also have some toys and games for young children and a small range of films on DVD. Cbeebies children’s TV channel is available on the TV.
Further details outdoors: The garden is to the side of the house and is laid to lawns, flowerbeds containing roses, Jasmin, laurel and an old apple tree to bake pies in September! There is a barbecue for those warm summer evenings and a large teak table and chairs for alfresco dining.

Guestbook for Station Cottage
Paul, we very much enjoyed our stay at Station Cottages. The house is lovely, very well presented and equipped. It felt like home. The children loved playing in the garden and we very much liked the village. The trains were not an issue for us at all. We will certaintly consider staying again when we come back next year. Thanks Jo - Mrs S. in Japan, July 09.
