Martin and Julie Sanderson welcome you to A Country Retreat, Self Catering Accommodation set within 3 acres of beautiful countryside on the Dorset/Somerset borders.

Situated at the end of a long winding lane in North Perrott, our 3 self catering holiday cottages offer well furnished and equipped accommodation offering you a perfect base for exploring the many historic houses and gardens in the area.

We have 3 Cottages consisting of Wood Dairy Stables which adjoins the owners farmhouse, and two barn conversions across the courtyard called Bluebell Cottage and Bramble Cottage. We are pet friendly and Pets are most welcome by prior arrangement.

We are only a few miles from Crewkerne and our location offers the perfect hideaway, giving you the chance to completely unwind and relax and get away from all the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life. Even though Wood Dairy Farm isn't a working farm, you certainly feel like you can experience the atmosphere of a farm as you sit back and watch the Cows in the neighbouring fields munch on their grass! A Country Retreat, really is a special place and with the Coast only about 12 miles distant, why not take in the sea air at Lyme Regis, West Bay or the famous Chesil Beach, surely one not to be missed.

We have also just bought 2 beautiful Suri Alpacas called TP and Ripley. Alpacas are extremely calm and gentle animals and would love to say hello to you! They are naturally inquisitive so will always come to see what you are doing!

About this location

The Somerset region

There are a number of historic houses and wonderful gardens and nature trails in this part of the South West of England. Montacute House, Barrington Court and Forde Abbey are just a few of the many houses to visit and The Jurassic Coast is only approximately 12 miles south providing some superb scenery and cliff top or beach walking.

One of the nearest nature walks is the River Parrett Trail. The River Parrett sources very close to us and meanders northwards to the Severn Estuary. Its journey through the Somerset Countryside will provide the walker with a vista of all that is best with our part of the world, from the wonderful wildlife of the wetlands that are the Somerset Levels to the mystical feel that this land of King Arthur can conjure up for the visitor.

North Perrott

Much of the history of this area is well documented and real links to the past are readily available. One such place is Ham Hill Country Park and its large Iron Age Hill Fort. It is here that a stone quarry provides the luxurious coloured hamstone for the cottages all around the local area, including Wood Dairy.

Lyme Regis is only a few miles from us and its geology and fossils are world famous. It is a place well worth a visit if only to stand on The Cobb and pretend to be Meryl Streep in "A French Lieutenants Woman".
