This delightful studio apartment is situated on the ground floor of a 120 year-old stone building in a quiet street just two minutes walk from the railway station and five minutes from the town centre and beach. The apartment sits on the side of a family home but has its own entrance as well as a private garden area with seating and barbecue.

The location is ideal for all local amenities, including shops, bars, restaurants, golf courses and the world-famous Bass Rock and Seabird Centre. A frequent train service provides easy access to the heart of Edinburgh with a relaxed journey through the East Lothian countryside taking approximately 30 minutes.

Old Abbey Road is a quiet, family-friendly street. Like the town of North Berwick, it is steeped in history with the apartment sitting opposite the ruins of North Berwick Priory which was established 800 years ago.

The studio has recently been refurbished and contains a large kitchen / living / bedroom area with a comfortable IKEA bed which can be used as a single or opened up to a comfortable double. A travel cot and/or extra fold-down bed can also be provided free. The renovation is modern but adopts a gentle seaside theme to reflect the general feel of North Berwick. A small hall and light shower room with toilet area complete the accommodation.

The kitchen area is well equipped with a ceramic hob and electric oven, a microwave, toaster and dishwasher as well as ample cookware, china, cutlery and glass for those wishing to cook at home. TV, DVD and unlimited free WiFi are included.

Ample hanging space is provided along with a washing machine in the hall cupboard.

Guests are also welcome to visit the chicken enclosure in the family garden and help themselves to fresh eggs for breakfast ... a great memory for visiting youngsters.

The property is ideal for couples, and also provides a safe, cozy base for anyone with a young child. It offers an excellent way to enjoy one of Scotland's most attractive towns, with real scenic beauty, a rich history and a thriving community.

"more suited to short break"

Thanks for the review and the 'very good' rating. Sorry there seems to have been some confusion over the washing machine. We only ever use this with the permission of guests and I was sure I had spoken to you about this upon arrival. If not, then that was a bad error on my part and I apologise sincerely. As for the towels, they are standard 'bath towels' and no-one has mentioned this before but I take your point and will now make the extra large 'bath sheet' size available. Had you asked, I would have been happy to do so at the time. I'm a little confused about the broadband comment because we are on the top BT 'unlimited use' package available, and we also have an extra cable into the apartment in case of wi-fi problems - I don't think the cable has ever been used because there has never been a need to, but given your comment, I will double check this. With regard to heating, the boiler is within the apartment and can be turned up by guests themselves ... but perhaps I need to make sure this is fully understood in future. Finally, with regard to the bathroom I can't really comment other than to say it was cleaned to the same standard as usual and every single previous review has given "cleanliness of bathroom" 5 out of 5. Nonetheless, I respect your view and will make doubly sure everything is OK in future. Overall, thanks again and I hope I have answered your points fairly.
