A spacious self catering holiday flat with fabulous sea views.

This is the perfect destination for a family holiday by the beach, or for sailors, golfers or anyone else looking to escape to the seaside. A bay window in the large living room looks out over the West Bay to Craigleith and the Fife coast beyond.

Centrally located, the beach is no more than a minute away, and you will find the High Street, with its shops, pubs and restaurants, just a short stroll from your doorstep. For golfers, North Berwick's famous West Links is no more than a 7-iron away, and the railway station (33 minutes to Edinburgh) is only 3 minutes' walk.

Sitting on the 2nd floor, above the Westgate Gallery, the apartment shares a well maintained access stair with just one other property. Forming part of a traditional stone building it is well maintained and enjoys centrally heating. It is furnished to a high standard throughout and we provide everything you might need in your holiday home so you can get on with enjoying your holiday.

The East Lothian region

East Lothian is the sunniest and the driest area of Scotland, and the mild climate in this sheltered corner of the country makes it a popular year-round holiday destination.

The coastline is punctuated with places of interest, including castles at Tantallon and Dirleton dating back to the 13th century. The area's many other attractions include beaches, historic homes and ancient monuments, good walking and cycling routes, and the best collection of golf courses to be found anywhere.

For those who like exploring our past, the Iron Age sites at Chester's Hill Fort and Traprain Law are worth a visit, and the county's interior is dotted with delightful villages where you can stop for refreshment at the many pubs and coffee shops.

The Bass Rock, 2 km offshore, is home to one of the world's largest gannet colonies and dominates the sea view from North Berwick, whilst Aberlady Bay (the UK's first local nature reserve) hosts thousands of migrating birds each autumn.

Edinburgh is just half an hour away by train. Scotland's capital city offers many attractions, but is at it's busiest for three weeks every August during the Edinburgh International Festival.

North Berwick

North Berwick is a thriving coastal town with a long and colourful history. The growth of the 'Royal Burgh' is closely linked to the establishment of the railway line in the late 19th century, a time when North Berwick was a fashionable destination for the well to do in society, and became known as the 'Biarritz of the north'.

These days the town is home to a population of around 7,000 and is one of six main towns in East Lothian. Local infrastructure includes a high school, sports centre and swimming pool, health centre, shops, banks, pubs, restaurants, etc. There are golf, rugby, sailing and tennis clubs, and many other tourist attractions. Excellent transport links mean Edinburgh is easily accessible by road or rail.

Local attractions include Tantallon and Dirleton Castles, the Museum of Flight, Glenkinchie Disitillery, and the Scottish Seabird Centre. Boat trips to the Bass Rock and other islands are available from the old harbour in summer months.

At the heart of Edinburgh's golf coast, North Berwick is home to the West Links, the oldest piece of golfing land outside St Andrews and one of the finest courses to be found anywhere. Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar, and the new courses at Archerfield and Renaissance are all just a short drive away.

For those who simply want to relax and unwind, there are miles of beautiful sandy beaches, good places to walk or cycle, and friendly pubs and restaurants.

"A very warm welcome"

A good stay at Mafeking house. We felt very welcome, and the bottle of wine waiting for our arrival was most welcome. A good kitchen, well equipped was much appreciated. Overall the apartment was well appointed and nicely furnished. Lovely views out of the living room window.

"Spacious, comfortable, excellently kitted out, v clean and amazing sea views!"

A very enjoyable family holiday (4 adults and 2 children) with plenty of room and privacy for all in this fantastic apartment. Very generous sized rooms and extra large living space with fantastic sea views. Very near town and railway station. A short walk to the beautiful beach with the kids. Would com here again with no hesitation. Thanks TM for a great stay.

"stunning views beautiful apartment"

Great apartment. There for a green weekend. Stunning views of the beach and sea from gorgeous bay window. All rooms great size with very comfy beds. The kitchen and living room area was great for a large group to get a takeaway and eat and socialise.

"Spacious flat with beautiful sea views and only one street from the beach and golf course."

We loved our month long stay in Mafeking House. Truely a home away from home. Fantastic sized rooms and a great dining kitchen for entertaining. The sea views were fabulous and having the beach and North Berwick Golf Course on the door step ensured we enjoyed all that North Berwick has to offer.

"Perfect home from home"

This is a lovely spacious home in one of the best positions in North Berwick,walking distance from everything,amazing views from the lounge and very very cosy. We were here for a pre-Christmas break,just two nights,we were met at the station by The propery manager who not only showed us the way but also carried our bag. The house was spotless and had everything you could possibly need. We hope to return in the spring time for a long weekend. Thank you to Torquil for being so helpful from the booking to the arrival.
