This beautiful ground floor, golf & beach house apartment centrally located on Westgate, just beyond the High Street is a mere hop, skip and a jump from the West Beach and the First Tee of famous, historic North Berwick West Links. Enjoy views of the sea by Craig Leith and watch golfers warm up on the practice chipping area next to the West Links first tee..
Recently upgraded, we have furnished and equipped the apartment to the very highest standards and specification in contemporary style. Professionally decorated and designed in fully coordinated neutral tones and textures.
From February 2013 it boasts 2 bathrooms, as a stylish additional wet room with state of the art overhead playtime shower was created and completed with underfloor heating and toilet and sink facilities. New storage areas mean the provision of "golf-style" lockers as well as beach and sports equipment storage space.
The striking apartment is a great location for all sports enthusiasts:- cyclists, surfers, yachtsmen, golfers, tennis players & fishermen.
All well known amenities are within a short walk :- the Seabird centre, old harbour, beaches and the high street with its many shops, cafes and restaurants. North Berwick has hosted national sailing championships frequently in several classes, whilst the West Putting Green is a firm family favourite, and a 'must do' on your list. 2013 9th March - ideal accommodation for RBS 6 Nations Rugby fixture Scotland versus Wales.
On the doorstep of North Berwick's West Links and, around the corner, walk to the nearby West Putting Green signaled by a statue of the famous Ben Sayers. Just a stone's throw from Westgate Gallery with its Orangery restaurant and cafe, it's again a short walk to North Berwick Railway station. As the main bus stop at Abbey Church is also approx. 200 yards away, the apartment is ideal for Edinburgh and all travel destinations.
The Victorian built lodge is therefore great for golfers, beach lovers and Edinburgh itself. Plenty of restaurants to enjoy just down the high street. Choose a range of international cuisine - from Italian to Chinese to Indian and Thai restaurants, not forgetting great Scottish fayre.
Golfers staying here have have easy access to not only both North Berwick courses, but Archerfield, Renaissance, Gullane and of course Muirfield, the 2013 British Open Golf venue. North Berwick has become a favourite of Winter Golfers from around Europe & The US. The West Links is a great location for golfers from Sweden, Norway and Germany in particular, because of the easy transport network by plane or ferry.
North Berwick also enjoys one of the driest climates in Scotland. It has its own micro-climate. It can be rain in Edinburgh and blue sky in North Berwick. With its pure fresh air, you are guaranteed to eat and sleep well.
Parked outside on Westgate or to the rear in reserved parking, walk up the path between manicured lawns to enter the imposing large ground floor apartment through its impressive traditional central doorway.

Welcome ! Now kick off boots, beach or golf shoes in the porch and proceed into the bright, large hallway. First left is the airy master bedroom with bedroom two just beyond. Both bedrooms are very spacious, with high cornices lovingly furnished with super king size zip & link beds.
Right of the hallway awaits a warm, Victorian period sitting room with real stove 12kw multi-fuel fire and large bay window offering Firth of Forth sea views - Beautifully furnished & has three settees & large TV. A stunning crystal chandelier hangs from the original ceiling rose.

2 Bathrooms:- The main bathroom has both bath & Grohe shower, whilst off the hall we have just recently completed an additional bathroom which includes a beautifully finished, contemporary Wet Room.

For Dining, the kitchen has a large oak table, ideal for up to 6 people dining and is well appointed.

The Lothians / East Lothian region
This part of th region is the sunniest and the driest area of Scotland, and the mild climate in this sheltered corner of the country makes it a popular year-round holiday destination. The coastline is punctuated with places of interest, including castles at Tantallon and Dirleton dating back to the 13th century. The area's many other attractions include beaches, historic homes and ancient monuments, good walking and cycling routes, and the best collection of golf courses to be found anywhere. The North Berwick area
The North Berwick area North Berwick is a thriving coastal town with a long and colourful history. The growth of the 'Royal Burgh' is closely linked to the establishment of the railway line in the late 19th century, a time when North Berwick was a fashionable destination for the well to do in society, and became known as the 'Biarritz of the north'. These days the town is home to a population of around 7,000 and is one of six main towns in East Lothian. Local infrastructure includes a high school, sports centre and swimming pool, health centre, shops, banks, pubs, restaurants, etc. There are golf, rugby, sailing and tennis clubs, and many other tourist attractions. Excellent transport links mean Edinburgh is easily accessible by road or rail. Local attractions include Tantallon and Dirleton Castles, the Museum of Flight, Glenkinchie Disitillery, and the Scottish Seabird Centre. Boat trips to the Bass Rock and other islands are available from the old harbour in summer months. At the heart of Edinburgh's golf coast, North Berwick is home to the West Links, the oldest piece of golfing land outside St Andrews and one of the finest courses to be found anywhere. Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar, and the new courses at Archerfield and Renaissance are all just a short drive away. If on the east side, drive via Newcastle and Berwick, through Dunbar or if from the west take the M6 past Preston & Carlisle and then A74 to Glasgow, M8 to Edinburgh and then through off the A1 via inland or coastal route passing Gullane if coastal route to North Berwick.

We stayed here at really short notice for a girls weekend - Andrew couldn't have been more helpful as we only booked 2 nights before we arrived! Wonderful service from Gordan who met us at ten o clock on Friday night and gave us a tour and welcome pack in time for us to get an excellent curry just down the road. We were added by beautiful spring weather and the views from the lounge window of the sae were delightful . Marine lodge has a fantastic location at the quiet end of the high street and within minutes of the beach harbour ,shops, restaurants and of course the west links. The apartment was warm comfortable a real home from home . We will be back Response: We appreciate this review. It highlights the great location and the comfort offered by the apartment. It is so easy to fall out of the front door and choose where to eat and enjoy yourself. We are once again delighted that these guests will return. |
