New to our portfolio for 2014 this delightful little flat is right in the heart of North Berwick. Just one floor up you can look down on the town's bustling High Street over a morning coffee while you plan your day.

With three bedrooms it is a bright, spacious, south facing flat that is ideal for families, two couples or golfing parties. It's only a stones throw from the West Bay and two minutes' walk from the harbour, Seabird Centre and yachting pond. For golfers the first tee on North Berwick's famous West Links is no more than a five minute walk, and you can get to more than a dozen other great courses in less than fifteen minutes by car.

Spruced up with a fresh lick of paint for 2014 the property comes fully equipped so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Wi-fi is included so you can stay connected and there's catch-up TV just in case you missed your favourite show while you were out enjoying the North Berwick sunshine !

As well as fresh bedlinen we provide towels, toiletries and kitchen detergents. We always make sure there's tea and coffee in the kitchen, and a pint of milk in the fridge in case you need a quick cuppa after your journey. We'll even be here to welcome you on arrival !

There's plenty to see and do in the local area (with or without a car) and if you fancy a day in the city Edinburgh is just 33 minutes away by train.

The Lothians region

East Lothian is the sunniest and the driest area of Scotland, and the mild climate in this sheltered corner of the country makes it a popular year-round holiday destination.

The coastline is punctuated with places of interest, including castles at Tantallon and Dirleton dating back to the 13th century. The area's many other attractions include beaches, historic homes and ancient monuments, good walking and cycling routes, and the best collection of golf courses to be found anywhere.

It's worth taking a day's drive through the East Lothian countryside. There are many places of interest and the county's interior is dotted with delightful villages where you can stop for refreshment at the many pubs and coffee shops.

The Bass Rock, 2 km offshore, is home to one of the world's largest gannet colonies and dominates the sea view from North Berwick, whilst Aberlady Bay (the UK's first local nature reserve) hosts thousands of migrating birds each autumn.

Edinburgh is just half an hour away by train. Scotland's capital city offers many attractions including the Castle, Holyrood palace, the quite unique Scottish Parliament building and Brittania (to name just a few !). The city is at it's busiest for three weeks every August during the Edinburgh International Festival.

North Berwick

North Berwick is a thriving coastal town with a long and colourful history. The growth of the 'Royal Burgh' is closely linked to the establishment of the railway line in the late 19th century, a time when North Berwick was a fashionable destination for the well to do in society, and became known as the 'Biarritz of the north'.

These days the town is home to a population of around 7,000 and is one of six main towns in East Lothian. Local infrastructure includes a high school, sports centre and swimming pool, health centre, shops, banks, pubs, restaurants, etc. There are golf, rugby, sailing and tennis clubs, and many other tourist attractions. Excellent transport links mean Edinburgh is easily accessible by road or rail.

Local attractions include Tantallon and Dirleton Castles, the Museum of Flight, Glenkinchie Disitillery, and the Scottish Seabird Centre. Boat trips to the Bass Rock and other islands are available from the old harbour in summer months.

At the heart of Edinburgh's golf coast, North Berwick is home to the West Links, the oldest piece of golfing land outside St Andrews and one of the finest courses to be found anywhere. Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar, and the new courses at Archerfield and Renaissance are all just a short drive away.

For those who simply want to relax and unwind, there are miles of beautiful sandy beaches, good places to walk or cycle, and friendly pubs and restaurants.

"Very convenient for town and beach"

A nice flat, well equipped, plenty of room for three adults and three kids. Good sized and equipped kitchen. The living room is also the dining room so you do need to be tidy. A hop skip and a jump … More

"Very Clean , a Haven in the Hustle and Bustle"

We loved our stay, the flat was very clean, the only thing was that the controller for the Wii was missing and the radio didnt work and it would have been nice to have a cd player as there wasnt one. The tv in the bunk bedroom doesnt work as a tv , only to watch dvds on,

The living room was a bit cramped as they had put the dining table and chairs in there beside livingroom furniture,
I would suggest using this room as a dining room as it is next door to the kitchen (which isnt big enough to sit in).
I would suggest the large front bedroom with the cot in it should be an ideal living room, this would leave two good sized bedrooms to let for four people .

In my opinion this flat is too small for more than four people to rent . At the moment this flat can sleep seven people plus a baby - well good luck in trying to fit them all into the tiny current livingroom , maybe some of them could sit at the dining table which takes up half the living room !!

I feel that seven is far too many people for the size of the accommodation, but the flat is ideal for up to four persons and a baby if you take my suggestion of turning livingroom in to a dining room and making livingroom in the main bedroom .

The bedrooms were very comfortable but the window rope is broken in the bunk bedroom which made it dangerous to open the window.
Also, we had hot water from taps and for the bath but strangely it wasnt hot enough from the shower.

The flat is nicely decorated and has a well stocked kitchen , it is seconds from the beach and the shops but would probably benefit from double or secondary glazing due to the church bells that chime every hour and half hour and general traffic / pedestrian noise .

Would like to return after these modifications are made and would recommend to all,

Up a first floor on a stair in tenement so not suitable for elderly or wheelchair users.

"2 sec walk from beach and amenities. fantastic!"

Great apartment that slept up to 7 from a hen party! So close to the beach pubs and restaurants it's literally on your doorstep. Torquil was excellent and all 3 aparments and provided me with info on best takeaways and restaurants. Looking forward to returning to locke north Berwick and torquils apartments soon

"A lovely holiday home from home!"

Royal Apartment, 1A Market Place was a lovely flat in the centre of North Berwick. The décor and feel of the place made us feel at home straight away. It is very well-equipped and very comfortable. We got a surprise when the Bells chimed every hour and half hour but we got used to it. It's in perfect location; just 2 minutes from the beach and the High Street with many shops and cafes on the doorstep. Steampunk is a new café, which serves amazing coffee and cakes, and well worth a try. The deli, which has a little café in the back serves lovely, fresh food. We were worried that there may not be parking but there is a free car park right across the road and another one just 3 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this and would be delighted to go back there.
