Your own Chelsea homeChelsea has been transformed into one of the island's most sought after neighbourhoods. In this jungle of galleries, restaurants and boutiques, find The Donac. Built in 1890s, it is a reminder of New York City housing's humble beginnings. Inside, the home is reminiscent of the rings of an ancient redwood, its rooms unfurl one after the other, each adorned with precious woodwork and welcoming you home after a long day.Linguistic LumberjackOur host is a retired journalist and editor. As an investigator of major international companies she brought to light truths that carry consequence on business far and wide. She set the standard for corporate reporting in the magazine industry.Wood and NickelYou'll want to put down roots from the moment you enter, down the steps outside the august building and in through the living room, welcoming wood all around. There's a fireplace with a swirling Fibonacci pattern embellished at the top of two colonnades. Move through to the dining room, and find the door to a back garden, should you feel the need for a return to nature, and then to the kitchen, fully equipped to handle any fine fauna you may pick up at the nearby Chelsea Market. The bedrooms are cosy, and it's easy to fall asleep there. You'll find them to be comfy clearings under the canopy of the city.Plenty of FibreThe food in the neighbourhood is fresh and plentiful. Our host recommends La Bergemote around the corner for morning pastry and coffee, and it'd be foolish not to stop by the Chelsea Hotel to sample a donut from the Donut Plant. And be sure to take a stroll on the High Line, New York's leafy elevated park. For inspiration stroll through the art galleries that align the Chelsea streets. Or, take the one train north and the timeless A train east for the chance to go out on a limb and explore!
