The Umbria region

"Green Heart of Italy", stretches for 8456 km square in the central part of the peninsula and has the distinction of being the only Italian peninsular region not to have no outlet to the sea. A dense network of settlements, connected by a web of paths winding roads that meander over rolling hillsides, lend a feature to the territory of this noble and ancient region, marked since the Middle Ages by the force of proliferating urban centers. Not surprisingly, in fact, the unmistakable features of the Umbrian landscape, which immediately brings to mind the paintings of the Renaissance, is the result of this crucial historical period known as the "age of the common." It is therefore the Middle Ages to dominate the landscape, with the fascinating architecture of fortified villages, castles perfectly preserved, the frescoed churches and towers isolated in the green countryside or on the heights. Sometimes called "non-region-region," the scant elements of inconsistency with neighboring Tuscany, Marche and Lazio, this beautiful land has nevertheless managed to build over the centuries a strong cultural identity. Aware of the value of its traditions, maintains an extensive network of relationships with the outside world, which have recently boosted the religious and cultural tourism as well as the farm.

Norcia

Mountain town of ancient origins, a paradise for lovers of fine cuisine, with tasty cheese, truffles, sausages and lentils, the local economy is based on rural and ecological and cultural tourism. Most of Norcia, whose aging index is above average, which is concentrated in the capital city, surrounded by fourteenth-century walls, has a feature plant in the heart and the rest of the community is distributed in numerous other locations, in urban elementary aggregates and scattered houses on funds. The geometric profile of the municipal area is very uneven: vast plateaus extend to the foot of the mountains Lieto, Patino and Ventosola, in opposition to the steep slopes of this curtain of rugged peaks and alert and solemn Mount Carrier. The karst features such as dolines and sinkholes, streams intermittently or periodically that are lost in the underground, the water meadows, marshy meadows used as fodder and perennially irrigated by spring water, make the district one of the most rare and beautiful of region.
