The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

It is not surprising that this area has been dubbed 'Little England' as the Dordogne has long been a favourite destination for British visitors. The region has wonderful scenery a wealth of history and a climate that guarantees long hot summers and temporate winters.

For days when you need a break from the sun there are plenty of caves and ancient chateau's to tour nearby. Nontron is fortunate to be located close to Bergerac and Cognac for those connoisseur's who want to taste the local produce!

The town of Brantome with its famous Abbey built into the rock is a mere 20 minute drive away. The more adventurous can hire a kayak here and paddle down the river that passes through the middle of this ancient town (known as the Venice of the South). For Golf enthusiasts the Dordogne offers some of the finest courses in Europe. All of which have reasonable green fees and are locally situated.

The town of Nontron is famous for it's knife making and draws visitors from all over the world to the festival held every year in August.

Regular markets are held in the town and its vicinity. All the restaurants in the town can be easily reached by foot and are of a very good standard.

"Like home from home, in comfortable warm, french surroundings"

Nontron is a pretty, typical french town. We have a busy family life and the house offerred the respite we needed. The weather was warm and the pool beautiful. I would reccomend the home and will definitely be staying again.
