THE ACCOMMODATION Built in 2004. Situated on the banks of Nontron's lake, this high quality complex is made up of 93 semi-detached wooden houses and groups of ground floor terraced apartments, sleeping from 4 to 9 people. They are well designed, have a simple, modern decor and include a tiled living room with sofa-bed or put-away beds, a TV (and further bedrooms as the following description), a log burner (not in the 4/6 person houses) and wood can be ordered for you, a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, 4 ring ceramic-glass hob, microwave/oven, and a bathroom or shower, with WC. There are three types of accommodation we can offer you, each house has its own terrace often in decking, with a view on the lawns or the lake.

You can fish in the lake, but you have to buy a fishing license. They are available in the "hunting and fishing" shop in the centre fo Nontron or at reception.
Each apartment has internet access (payable at reception).

The shared facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool (6m x 15m), children's play area on the lakes beach, a Reception, with bar with breakfast area, a lounge with fireplace, a sauna, a seminar room, table tennis, snooker (with a supplement), laundrette, pay phones, car parking, and vast lawned areas. Guests can revitalise body and mind in the sauna, have a drink or snack in the bar and swim in the heated outdoor pool. There is a direct and private access to the lake's beach, bordered by pontoons, footbridges and footpaths, perfect for swimming, with fishing access (with a supplement). There has been a newly-created footpath so the distance from the centre of the village is now approx 2kms.
The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
Travel inland from Bordeaux to Dordogne, one of the most beautiful natural regions in France, with slow rivers sometimes cutting through spectacular steep limestone valleys, riddled with caves, many containing world-famous prehistoric paintings.. A region proud of its gastronomic specialities (foie gras, truffles, cheeses, chocolate …), food lovers and gourmets will savour the traditions of good living and eating well. "Land of Prehistoric man", the Dordogne is bursting with superb prehistoric sites, which trace of the birth of human existence, such as the famous Lascaux caves.
Nesting on a cliff, Nontron is famous for its hand-crafted knife with its pale wooden handle and carved motifs, it is the most ancient of folding knives. La Dordogne, land of contrast and of sweet living !! Places to discover : Visit the nice old town of Nontron : remnants of the town"s 13th century ramparts ; half-timbered houses and ancient quarters many houses dating from the 15-17th century.
And the famous Périgord-Limousin National Park aswell as Villard caves, the Lascaux caves, and Limoges . Other activities in the Perigord include water sports, canoeing, tennis, horse-riding, horse-driven carriage, rides, walks and mountain-biking, lake and river fishing and golf.
The region is dotted with small towns and villages, all typically French in character. Because this area has been inhabited since prehistoric times there is a wealth of sites and monuments to visit Brantome, Sarlat, Montbazillac, Bergerac, Périgueux, Les Eyzies (the Cro-Magnon Man). The whole region is dotted with chateaux or you can just relax and spend the day swimming in the many lakes and rivers, cycling through the quiet lanes or walking the marked footpaths.

With a love for nature, Mankind here has harmoniously preserved the enchanting surroundings, rich with history. Nesting on a cliff, Nontron is famous for its hand-crafted knife with its pale wooden handle and carved motifs, it is the most ancient of folding knives. Here, the visitor slides himself humbly and with amazement into the steps of the first Mankind!!! La Dordogne, land of contrast and of sweet living !!
Places to discover : Visit the nice old town of Nontron : remnants of the town?s 13th century ramparts ; half-timbered houses and ancient quarters many houses dating from the 15-17th century. There is a very pleasant walk indicated throughout town visiting all the old houses and lanes. There is porcelain decoration and tie-making (Hermès). There is a Garden of the Arts, a local museum and many local markets. There is festival of knife making in the 2nd weekend of August.
Nearby are Brantome (18kms), Sarlat, Montbazillac, Bergerac, Périgueux (approx 45 mins away), Les Eyzies (the Cro-Magnon Man). And the famous Périgord-Limousin National Park aswell as Villard caves (18kms) and the Lascaux caves, and 70 kms to Limoges .

It is possible to drive to the Dordogne from any of the cross channel ports, with the longer crossing ports of Caen and Cherbourg being a little closer than Calais.
The airport at Bergerac is well served by flights from a good range of regional UK airports. Ryanair fly from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool and Bristol. Flybe fly from London Gatwick, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Exeter and Southampton.
By train, take the Eurostar from St Pancras International, London to Gare du Nord, Paris (2 h15m). From the train to Périgueux takes 4 hours or the TGV to Angoulême takes 2h 30m.
Car hire available at Bergerac airport and Angouleme or Perigueux stations.
