The North Spanish Coast region
The property is located 25 minutes east of Santander along the Trasmiera coast and within the TRASMIERA ECOPARK. The Trasmiera Ecopark is a member of EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) which aims to promote sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. The Trasmiera coast extends 26 kms approximately from the bay of Santander to Santoña and is characterised above all for its beauty and variety. This stretch of the Cantabrian coast is a continual alternation of cliffs, important marshlands and magnificent beaches, the latter being some of the best in Northern Spain.
The first beach on the Trasmiera coast is the large sandy area of the Somo-Loredo headland, more than 4 km of beach and dunes with different points of access from the villages of Somo and Loredo. Within the borough of Ribamontan Al Mar, this is a prime area for surfing and one of the best surf spots in Spain. Between Loredo and the Ajo cape, the coast becomes wilder; with high cliffs such as those of Cape Quintres, although small and very beautiful beaches are not lacking in this area, such as those of Langre and Galizano, or those of Antuerta and Cuberris in Ajo. Superb coastal walks and horse riding are very popular in this area.
On the other side of the pretty Venera estuary, mouth of the River Campiazo, the village of Isla and its beaches of La Arena, Arnadal, El Sable and La Cava are found.
Further on we come to Noja, with its beaches of Ris, Trengandín and Helgueras, which are close to the important marshlands of Joyel and Victoria, that together with the marshlands of Santoña form an outstanding nature reserve.
Finally, the fishing town of Santoña has two beaches: the Berria, wide and opening out onto the Cantabrico Sea, and the San Martín beach, smaller and sheltered and somewhat more urban. Santoña is infamous for quality anchovies and sardines.
Beaches in the Area
Superb beaches only 5-13 minutes drive or 3kms-18kms. These include Berria, Trengandin, Ris, Isla, Ajo, Langre, Loredo & Somo. This area, called the Trasmiera Coast, is noted for it´s long, fine sand beaches. Extremely popular with surfers and watersport enthusiasts. Only slightly further are the beaches of Santander which can be enjoyably accessed by ferry from Somo. And between each of the beaches mentioned are beautiful areas of high & low coast offering lovely walks & stunning scenery.
Golf in the Area
DRIVING RANGE: There is a newly opened (2011) driving range located only 400 metres away.

Special Interest Activities
This is a prime area for surfing and wind-surfing and there are many surf schools in the vicinity. Diving is also popular as is canoeing and sailing. For those interested in cooking, the 1 star Michelin restaurant El Cenador de Amos in Villaverde de Pontones offers 1 and 2 day cookery courses in Spanish. Private language classes in both the Spanish language and the German language can also be arranged.

Several supermarkets, butchers, pharmacy, a bank and bars located 2kms away in Meruelo. Two taverns and a convenience store are located less than 1km away. Noja centre, 3kms away, has many shops, bars, pharmacies, several banks and restaurants. Santoña town (population 12000) has an abundance of supermarkets, bars, banks and restaurants. This is not a remote area. Access to numerous shops, bars and restaurants is very easy. We provide full details to guests.

In Noja there is a market every Wednesday and in Santona every Saturday. The Sunday market in charming Lierganes, 20 minutes away, is highly recommended also.
