Studio gite (gite)

Home description

Bright studio gite with all amenities and its own terrace and table and chairs for al fresco dining, right opposite the large heated 29' swimming pool and terrace. Stay all day by the pool and soak up the sun or drag yourself over to the the table tennis table for some light exercise or play boule. For the kids there is also table top football and a massive trampoline and swings for the smaller children. We also supply some bikes free of charge for the more active guests. Take advantage of the fantastic green lanes and either walk or cycle for many miles and see the wonderful wildlife and unspolit terrain. The grounds are shared with our 2 bedroom barn and our own property and we are completely secure, fenced and walled all around and entry is via an electronic gate.

If you want to venture out there are a number of places to visit on our doorstep, for example, golf, horseriding, ice skating, wine tasting, boating, karting, fishing and shopping. Of course, don't forget the chateaus and other places of interest that are also nearby.

We are very easy to reach by car, plane or train. Just an hour away from La Rochelle with its fabulous harbour, shops and restaurants and 30 minutes away from The Marais Poitevan "Green Venice" with is many canals to explore.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region

The Deux Sevres region is situated in the south west of France and it is famous for its micro climate and unspolit countryside where driving/riding is actually a pleasure.
There are many places to visit of historical interest and we are very centrally located to places like Cognac, for its several distillaries offering guided tours including the famous Hennessy, Martell and Remy Martin, La Rochelle for its fantastic harbour, shops and harbour-side restaurants offering moule and frites and of course many other restaurants offering different menus. Tours, Royan and Futuroscope and also very close.
We are only a short drive away from the Marais Poitevan or "Green Venice" where you can go cycling, walking or boating along the canals. Its a lovely typical french place to visit and has many restaurants and souvenir shops.

Niort / Aigonnay area

We are 15 minutes drive from the large town of Niort with is cinemas, shops and many restaurants, bars and cafes. It is a fabulous place to just go and sit outside one of the many bars/cafes and people watch and enjoy the sunshine or of course hit the shops and then enjoy a cool panache or beer in afternoon sun. There is a weekly market selling all types of produce from meats, vegetables, plants, clothes and of course poultry. It is well worth a visit. You could also visit the chateau/dungeon or just walk along the river and enjoy the ambiance.

There is also karting and an ice skating rink here in Niort.

How to get there

By air just 40 minutes from Poitiers Airport or 55 minutes from La Rochelle Airport.
By car, 7 hours from Calais, 5 hours from Bolougne and just 3.5 hours from St. Malo.
By train, 2.5 hours from Paris to La Creche/Niort/St. Maxient which is 15 minutes drive from us.

Further details indoors:
The studio is bright and airy. The kitchenette is fully self contained with eveything you could want. There is a large shower room and a separate toilet room enclosed within the studio. There is a table and chairs for inside dining with places for 4 people. There is also a large double bed settee which obviously doubles up for seating for the day. A coffee table and tv/dvd player are also in the studio. Outside you have your own terrace with table and chairs and umbrella so you can enjoy the glorious long evenings and eat al fresco. Just opposite the studio you have the large sun terrace and swimming pool, heated to 29', which is fenced in and accessed by two lockable gates. There are plenty of sun lougers and umbrellas to shield you from the hot sun.

Further details outdoors:
Completely secure fenced and walled gardens of 3 1/2 acres, which includes a large field and small woods for the children to explore and let their imaginations run riot. We have a large trampoline for the children along with swings for the smaller children here. In the games room we have a table tennis table, table top football and boule. We also supply bikes.

The swimming pool is approximately 12m by 5m and is 1 metre at the shallow end which is accessed by two stairs and is 2 metres at the deep end and can be accessed by a small ladder for those of us not brave enough to dive in!! It is heated to a very pleasant 29'. We live on site and clean and maintain the pool area every day. There is also a pool alarm available.

There is plenty of secure parking space and exterior security lights.

Further details

There is a 20% deposit required on booking with the balance being paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. There is also a 100 euro per week refundable security deposit payable on arrival.

The gite is non-smoking and is supplied with all bed linen and towels for the bathroom which are changed every Saturday. Towels are not supplied for the pool area.
