Nice has very easy access to one of the prettiest coast lines worldwide. Monaco, Antibes, Cannes are a short bus/train ride away. The train trip north taking you into Italy is a scenic day trip. Almost guaranteed year round blue skies and sunshine.
Nice / Central Nice area
The Promenade Des Anglais offers great people watching and access to many beach dining facilities. There are a number of museums - Chagall and Matisse being two of my favourites. Wonderful Belle Epoque architecture.
A world renowned Jazz Festival each summer, close to Monaco for the Formula 1 and not far from the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Old Nice has a historical farmers market everyday for fresh produce and flowers and lots of restaurants for a leisurely lunch... or dinner.

5 km from the main airport for the Cote D'Azur.
