The house has been tastefully renovated preserving the open spaces that are typical of village houses in the Cote d'Azur. Whether you want to experience the wonderful restaurants and laid back lifestyle in this medieval village or whether you want to enjoy the beach which is just 10 minutes away, this lovely house offers you a memorable place to stay.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region

The climate of the Cote d'Azur is lovely year round; hot and sunny in summer, and generally nice enough to eat outside at any time.

It is an region with a fantastic variety of landscapes located within a small area, bordered by the dramatic coastline that stretches from Menton to St Tropez. For those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the coast, the countryside is not far away and the Gorges du Loup, a breathtaking canyon, is situated just 30 mins inland. Wonderful hiking areas are to be found in several directions.

The area is spoilt by the number of picturesque French villages; Hauts de Cagnes, Saint Paul de Vence (the preferred village of Louis XIV) and Grasse, just to name a few.

For those who prefer the city life, Nice or Cannes are just minutes away. Enjoy the contrast between the old and the new in Nice, or the famous film festival in Cannes.

Nice / Haut de Cagnes area

Haut de Cagnes is ideally situated on the Cote d'Azur just ten minutes drive from Nice and half an hour from Cannes. There is a daily market down the hill, a special fish market in neighbouring Cros de Cagnes, a large market in Antibes on Thursday, and the Antique market in Nice weekly.

For art lovers, Auguste Renoir's residence and museum is a must. You can also check out the exhibition inside the Chateau of Haut de Cagnes and enjoy an amazing roof top view – you can see all the way to Italy on clear days! Also of interest are the chapel of Matisse in Vence, and the Chagall and Picasso museums in Nice and Antibes.
A great family excursion is Marineland, just 15 mins away.

At Marineland you can enjoy an unforgettable killer whale show and a large water park. The hippodrome is open each evening with special events throughout the year. As we are so near the coast there are obviously all the water sports that you can imagine!

For golf lovers there is also a large choice of courses in the area and tennis courts nearby. Great skiing lies only 1 hour north. Free outdoor jazz concerts in the place du chateau are frequent in the summer months, and the Medieval festival in July is a great family event not to be missed.

How to get there

The Nice International airport is a short 10kms from the Villa. In addition, there is an SNCF (French train) stop for Cagnes-sur-Mer which is just 2km away from the villa. Easyjet and all major airlines that service France fly into the Nice airport regularly.

A wide variety of rental car companies are available both at the airport and in nearby Cagnes-sur-Mer. To travel from the airport to the villa there are both taxi and bus options.

There is a free shuttle available year round and excellent bus services. Renting a car is not necessary, but can be helpful if you plan to make a lot of day trips and prefer driving yourself as opposed to taking the train.

Immediately as you walk through the front door your breath will be taken away by the sea view, the luminous living room is a wonderful space to enjoy a relaxing moment in front of the original, functioning chimney.

The top floor has a spacious terrace with a dining table and chairs, large barbecue, and outdoor heater so that you can enjoy eating al fresco year round!

The master bedroom is very comfortable with air conditioning and an en suite shower room. The second bedroom also has an en suite bathroom and is a spacious retreat with a sofa. In the summer, this room remains lovely and cool.

The kitchen and dining area again have the wonderful sea view. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc). The dining area allows six people to enjoy a meal comfortably. Wireless internet access is provided complimentary year round.

If you have a baby and need cot and high chair, we are a baby friendly villa and are happy to provide this free of charge.

Pets are welcome with an additional pet fee and deposit. We appreciate our renters and a complimentary welcome gift is offered.

The terrace is south facing and equipped with a gas barbecue. The exterior attraction of Montybella are the beautiful streets and medieval architecture of Haut de Cagnes awaiting you as you step out of the front door.

The Chateau overlooks a fantastic square where you can enjoy watching the locals playing petanque or enjoy a coffee or evening meal with a breathtaking view of the mountains.

Cagnes sur Mer is the sea side town just down the hill from the village and has all that you need in terms of shopping facilities with a free shuttle to bring you up and down the hill.

The beach is only 2km away and the historic fishing village of Cros de Cagnes and Auguste Renoir's residence and museum await your discovery.

To reserve your stay at Villa Montybella, please send 50% of the rental fee via wire transfer or pay pal. Chamber maid service is an additional 80 euros and linens are 15 euros for the first bed and 10 euros for each bed thereafter for a max of 35 euros.

You are welcome to bring your own linens should you prefer this option. The remaining 50% of the rental fee, cleaning and linen charges are due one week prior to your visit.

As with all quality properties, a damage deposit via check, will be required at time of check-in and returned to you in a prompt manner. The standard deposit is 400 euros but may be greater for longer term rentals.

Housebroken pets are welcome for a small fee and extra damage deposit. No hidden or extra charges for heating, wifi, satellite, baby cot or high chair.
