The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

The Côte d’Azur lies between the mountains peaks of the Alps and the shimmering turquoise Mediterranean. It has been the playground of Europe since the 19th century when it became a popular holiday destination for the rich and famous. It remains to this day, one of the most sought after destinations in France and is ideal for family and group holidays as well as romantic city breaks.

Agreeably named, Nice is the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes. It is a city that stays alive and active all year round. There is plenty to see and do and something to suit all tastes.

With approximately 300 days of sunshine, it is renowned for its long hot summers and cooling sea breezes which help to maintain a pleasant temperature.

Beautifully situated, between Cannes and Menton, Nice offers easy access by train or bus allowing you to explore many other interesting towns along this famous coastline. Day trips to Monaco, Italy and some of the surrounding hilltop Provençal villages are all possible.

Nice

This colourful and lively city has so much to offer that it is hard to know where to begin!

Relax and soak up the sun on the 4km of beaches along the ‘Promenade des Anglais’, enjoy the enticing restaurants and sidewalk cafés where you can just watch the world go by.

Meander through the enchanting old town with its typical French market in the Cours Saleya and interesting shops selling all manner of local produce and Provençal gifts.

For those whose interests lie particularly in culture, explore the many museums and art galleries in town including the Matisse Museum, Chagall Museum and the renowned Museum of Contemporary Art.

At night, the city offers some of the best entertainment on the coast with numerous bars often with live music, Casinos and a selection of nightclubs to choose from.

Nice and surrounding areas also hold a huge number of events and festivals through out the year, some of the most popular ones include:

January - New Year Concert (Nice Acropolis)

February - Nice Street Carnival and the Menton Fete du Citron

March - The Boat Show (Nice Port) and the Paris-Nice International Cycling Race

"Fabulous NICE sunny apartment close to beach & shops"

Flying into NICE for the first time we were easily able to catch the bus from Airport & find the apartment :) We were greeted at the apartment by the agent who showed us how everything worked and pointed out where the shops, markets, buses, trains etc were.
We loved staying here a very comfortable home away from home. Clean, sunny & large apartment. The markets were across the road for fresh croissants, cheeses & veges for the day.Shops & restaurants around the corner & BEACH & promanade a 2 minute walk. We caught the trains to Cannes & Monaco which were fabulous day trips...It was a fantastic week and will be back soon :)

"A very relaxing city break"

Excellent service from our booking agent, Service Riviera. We stayed in a well appointed, fairly priced and stylish apartment very conveniently located in the city centre close to the Promenade des Anglais and all amenities. Restaurant and bar prices in the tourist areas are generally not good value for money. The Paradis in the Cours Saleya was a particular disappointment. Slow service didn't help, but the experience was especially bad because of an extremely rude waiter.
