The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

Nice is directly situated on the Mediterranean sea, therefore enjoys a rather hot summers and mild winters with sunshine all year round. Nice is the spring board to all locations, attractions and activities along the French Riviera and places of interests such as Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez are within easy reach.

For a holiday in Nice a car is not required as you can easily reach many attractions in Nice by foot or by the local bus. Exploring the area and villages around and outside Nice can be done also by bus or by train. If you come by car, there are plenty of car parks (Parking) around the Old Town and the bus station to park it.

Nice is a great holiday destination all your round wether you are a beach bum or a ski bunny. Ski stations, such as Isola 2000 or Auron are just 1 hour drive away and therefore you could have ski and beach holiday in one. The city of Nice is pretty proud of those ski areas as they are applying to host the Winter Olympics there in 2018.

NIce with all its wonderful restaurants, shops and cultural activities is a very charming and lively city yet at the same time also very relaxed and very mediterranean. It boasts with 8 km of beach and has something to offer for everyone from city slicker, sport man or sun worshipper.

The famous Promenade des Anglais is only about 4 mins walk (300meters) away from the flat, which makes it an ideal 'pied a terre' for a beach holiday.

The old town area is strictly pedestrianised, so you won't need a car to do your daily trips to the local boulangeries or the shops.

Gourmets and food lovers will enjoy buying their fruit and veg at the local market on Cours Saleya, about 200 meters away from the flat. Even closer, a local wine shop where you can buy great wine by the litre straight from the barrel for a few Euros. You can also buy your olive oil, freshly made pasta and other local delicatessen from authentic artisan shops right at your door step.

Surrounded by so much local delicious produce you might even want to cook your own lunch and enjoy on the balcony with a glass of chilled rose. We've recently discovered a wonderful Italian delicatessen around the corner from the flat, and their buffalo morzarella is the best in the world. We also stocked up on Italian cold cuts such as parma ham and mortadella. You cannot miss that shop, the smell of ham and fresh crusty bread will draw you inside in no time.

About 5 minutes walk away, on Place Garibaldi, the famous seafood restaurant "Cafe de Turin" is pulling in seafood lovers of all ages and nationalities. "Cafe de Turin" is a very down to earth restaurant, but their great varity of daily fresh seafood at honest prices draws in the punters at lunch time and dinner. Lots of customers even come especially from Italy. Whether you love oysters, langustines or sea urchins this great little place won't dissapoint.

But don't stop there, there is ice cream for dessert. Place Rossetti is famous for two local ice cream shops, which have been established as Nicois artisans for decades. Fenoccio and Pincoccio boast with over 100 ice cream flavours - our tip: have a scoop every day and work your way through the menu.

"In the midst of it all."

Looking for an out of the way, quiet spot then this is not for you. However.... if you want to be right in the middle of the noise, atmosphere and day to day life of old Nice then this is for you. There a few stairs to negotiate bot the flat is brilliant. One thing it could do with is a better TV system ( as I'm English there's not much to watch and the machine isn't great ) but you really don't need it. Just sit on the balcony and watch people. If you like a glass of wine to go with your view over the Place Rosetti go to the Cave at the bottom of the street opposite and get some of the draught wine. You won't have a bottle so you can rent one or three. It's about 3 Euros a litre for the wine and 90 cents rent per bottle.. Or you could sit in a cafe and pay 4 Euros for a small glass.
Good eating places if you look round the streets. Not cheap but you are in a tourist spot.
Our second visit. Loads to see and do. If you are easily bored use the trams, trains and buses to get around the area. Brilliant. Oh I forgot... the refuse collectors come around 5 a.m. and the late night drinkers make a lot of noise on their way home but who cares. Wi fi is intermittent.

"Fantastic apartment, fantastic location!"

Having travelled to Nice previously I knew this was a great location, your right in the heart of everything with fantastic restaurants, bars, shops, markets, beach literally right on your door step!!
I booked direct with the owners Simon & Katia, they where very helpful and professional and we ended up renting their other apartment balcon rosette in the same buiding. We landed at 11am and were unsure if we would be able to access the apartment, they very kindly dropped the keys at the airport and we got in straight away.

This apartment is spotlessly clean bright! considering we are in the heart of the old town, it has all mod cons, very comfortable beds and a great shower, plenty of space for 4-5 adults.
I cant think of anything bad to say, loved it, would definitely stay there again.!!

"Cute apartment, great location"

The place was lovely. It was right in the heart of the old town. My husband and I spent a lot of time just sitting on the terrace and people watching. Watch out for Sunday mornings! The apartment is right across the way from a church and the bells ring for a good half an hour. The only reason I'm giving a four instead of five was that we had a hard time initially finding the place. We had gotten a flat tire the night before and had to fix it, making us leave much later than anticiapated. Because of that the travel agent assigned to give us the keys left them at the airport. Which wouldn't have been a big deal during the day but by the time we got there, on a Saturday night, it was dark. We finally got into the right area after parking 2km away due to the night life. We walked, in the rain with all of our luggage, halfway across town. Then we couldn't find the entrance. The poor guy at the restaurant next door was very helpful and took my husband around both buildings to find the entrance. After another 45 minutes of asking for help and searching, I went in to call the agent. He asked me to show him the address again, and he knew where it was. We finally got in around 11 pm after driving all day. This is not the home owners fault. But, maybe a better description of the location would have been more helpful. As we noticed the next morning things are very different between the night and day. Things seem to just appear and disappear. The entrance was hidden amoung many tables between 2 restaurants. Other than the very first night, we had an absolutely perfect stay! Thanks so much!
