The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

The Cote D' Azur is renowned for sunshine, glamour, elegance and style, there's so much to do in the area with numerous places to visit by using the cheap transport available. There are a lot of events during the year such as the Nice carnival in Feb, the Cannes film festival and the Monaco grand prix in May, and the Nice jazz festival in July, so there is always something to keep you occupied. There are also some excellent walks around Cap Ferrat pennisula and Cap D' Ail into Monaco where you can admire the villas of the rich and famous. There are excellent beaches to visit at Cannes, Villfranche, Beaulieu-Sur-Mer and Cap D'Ail.

After a day's excursion why not relax in one of the many bars and restaurants available nearby, enjoying fine food and wine.

Nice

Carre d'Or is probably the most exclusive area in Nice with so many beautiful buildings. A short walk will bring you to Rue De France for shops bars and restaurants,if you like the larger shops you'd be spoilt for choice along Avenue Jean Medecin.

For the more energetic, walking, cycling, roller blading, bowling and water sports.

"Private and cozy with humorous patio entry"

Martin and Sue are excellent hosts.
They even stayed around the flat to give us the keys personally.

The flat is half a stair down in the basement with windows in west and north.
Everthing is quite new and well kept but we had difficulties understanding the "computerised" oven. Instead of temperature settings it showed different types of cooking e.g. Whole Chicken, Beef and so on.
But thanks to Martin (I believe) that kept all manuals in a drawer.

The flat is just a couple of minutes walk behind the Negresco at the beach front.
Within 3 minutes walk you find a traditional market, supermarket, museums, shops and places to eat and drink. So you don't have to move around much if you don't want to.
My recommendation is to spend a lot of time in old Nice with the old Fishmarket square where you can find fresh flowers, fish, meats, cheeses and even antiques some once a week.

Everything about Nice is pleasant if you like city life. The cars and bikes are many.
The buses and trains work perfect and goes everywere, even to Italy.
Beware of the beach! Especially if you have mobility problems. It's full of rocks and not at all pleasant. And the beach resturants are only expensive and often lack service skills.

"Would recommend to anyone"

We made a last minute booking to stay at Villa Belle Epoque and were not disappointed in any way.

When making our initial enquiries, Martin and Sue were very proffesional, friendly and efficient right from the very off - emailing details exactly when they said they would, calling to ensure we'd recieved information etc and to see if there was anything else they could do. Making the booking was equally easy and Martin sent us a full personalised guide on everything we'd need to know for our stay and attractions in the surrounding area.

On arriving, we found a loveley apartment which is every bit as good as the pictures suggest in a wonderful location and building. The seafront is literally 3mins walk away, with all the amenities one could hope for all within a couple of blocks walk.

The apartment itself is clean, spacious for a studio and modern with an excellent kitchen, bathroom and generally well appointed. All mod cons, and no concerns or issues in the slightest.

Would happily return and recommend to anyone.
