Located inbetween the port and old town only a couple of minutes walk from the marina, this apartment is in a great central location. Nice is a great base for exploring the whole Cote d'Azur and Provence. Monaco, St Paul de Vence, Antibes, Italy are all easily got to either by train/bus or car.
The Nice / Port of Nice area
Everything is within walking distance of the apartment. The marina is on your doorstep, the old town is a 5 minute stroll and the Promenade des Anglais is also just a short walk away. The famous Cours Salaya market 10-15 mins walk. Huge choice of restaurants, shops, supermarkets right beside the apartment. A fabulous Chocolatier is straight across the street. Very well located for train and bus services up and down the coast. Parking nearby.

Overall, a large airy apartment with a decent view of the sea, but lacking in many respects. There is a large chunk of paint peeling and hanging off the ceiling in the living room. Door handles come off the doors. 1. One key for the whole group. We were a group of 6, and the apartment is advertised for 8 max. When asked, the owner said that he only allows one key to be given out because he fears giving out more will lead to more lost keys, which bears large costs (50 Euro to replace a key). While there's not much logic in his argument, having only one key for a large group means people are likely to try and hide the key for others near the entrance, which actually means the key will get lost more quickly. 3 keys is standard in all the rentals of this size on the Med I've ever had. This just seems cheap and disrespectful. 2. No internet. In our day and age, this is not really acceptable any more. Again, this speaks of cheapness -- wifi is standard. 3. The biggest nuisance: the owner said that showing up before 8 pm ensures that we can get his agent to hand us the key at the apartment. The agent had a different cutoff time, noon. So when we showed up around 7 in the evening, we had to walk about a kilometer down to old town and it took us a long time to find the restaurant where some waiter supposedly had "Mike's keys." This with all the suitcases, etc. to carry with us. The cabs by the way, don't drive into old town from the airport, and some walking will be required. Massive fail on this one. General stuff: The apartment is on the 4th floor (no elevators as is common here), equipped with a washing machine (no drier), small fridge, stove, etc. Sheets are included, which is nice. Would not stay here again, mainly for the 1 key situation and the lack of internet. |
