Home description
The flat comprises a spacious hallway with lounge, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, kitchen diner, bathroom with wash basin, bath, shower, bidet and separate w.c. All the rooms are generous in size as can be seen from the photos, are well appointed and the flat provides everything required for a relaxing holiday.
Because of it's proximity to the main railway station, (not audible from the flat), several excellent beaches are less than fifteen minutes away. Access to Monte Carlo, Cannes, the Alps, Italy etc. is also very easy and practically all of Nice including the beach (ten minutes) is comfortable walking distance.
Should you have a car, there is also nearby the 'Voie rapide' for a rapid exit from the city thus avoiding traffic queues.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
Nice has a reputation as the best climate in France, high summer temperatures moderated by its proximity to the sea and mild winters due to the protection given by the Alpes Maritimes immediately inland. It is a fascinating mix of populations French, (often ex colonial or Corsican), Italian, North African, British, American and a new invasion by wealthy Russians. Historically, it was the European playground for the aristocracy, leaving a legacy of magnificent architecture cf the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and Queen Victoria's magnificent residence. It is also a favourite destination for young backpackers from all over the world and who decorate the local beaches. As a place to explore, one would require a lifetime to do it justice. There are a great number of places of historical interest including a picturesque old town with narrow streets, old churches, and the Cours Saleya (a flower and fruit market on most days which bubbles with activity and becomes a vibrant spot for eating outdoors in the evening.) Nice has a major interest in art and artists, and a wide range of lifestyles ( restaurants, bars and beaches). The scenery of the Alpes Maritmes is breathtaking. If one needs to cool down on a hot day, a short trip inland can find one over 2000 metres high where the air is cooler. It is said of Nice that one can ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon
Nice / Musicians' Quarter area
The Musician's Quarter,an architecturally magnificent area, so called because the streets are named after musicians (appropriate since this is also my profession), is known in Nice as the 'Carré d'Or' or Golden Square. This is because of it's proximity to all amenities. Besides what is mentioned above, there are for instance two small 24hour supermarkets nearby where one can find a large selection of food and drink. There is too much information to give here and I think it best to refer anyone to the Nice tourism website; www.nicetourism.com . Tennis courts and golf are easily accessible but are not walking distance. Skiing is possible, about an hour from Nice depending on traffic although there is a bus leaves from the railway station early in the morning and will deliver you back in the early evening. Watersports, fishing and horse riding are all possible but again not walking distance.
How to get there
By plane, budget fares with British Airways and Easyjet. Complete range of car hire companies at main railway station, approximately three minutes walk from flat. Twenty minutes by direct bus from Nice/Côte d'Azur Airport. The apartment lies close to the 'Voie rapide' for rapid access to and egress from the city centre.

Further details indoors: The flat is furnished in neutral colours and many of the original features (including the floors, parquet and granite tiles,) have been retained. Being on the first floor of a seven storey building, for much of the day the flat is in the shade and if one closes the shutters and leaves open the full length windows, one can return after a hard day on the beach to the cool and tranquility of the flat. The flat also contains two powerful but silent fans which provide a current of cool air should the temperature rise. There is a lift, slightly reminiscent of a 1930's film set to help with heavy loads, and a small trolley to use when shopping for heavier items; water, beer etc. (A journey of under two hundred yards). The rear of the flat looks out onto a large, mainly enclosed, courtyard comprising gardens, with orange trees, palm trees etc. Both the twin bedroom and kitchen have small balconies.
Further details outdoors: Shopping can be done on the next block in the street where the flat lies, (Rue d'italie) ; three butchers, a small fruit and vegetable market and a medium size supermarket. Ten minutes walk away is a quality supermarket with excellent meat, fish and delicatessen (the 'Fortnum and Mason's of Nice'), the most major shopping street of Nice with an excellent shopping mall, and also a vibrant street market with a large variety of food and other goods. The pedestrian area nearby and the promenade both provide a variety of nightlife to suit most tastes and away from the tourist areas, one can eat very well and find very good value. Information is provided in the flat.
