The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
The Cote d'Azur is a magical region to come to and to return to. From Nice, and especially from the Gare Routiere which is 200m away from the Duplex, you can visit all the famous resorts that make the world dream: Monte-Carlo, Cannes, Antibes/Juan-les-Pins, Cap Ferrat. But this is just half of what the Côte d'Azur can offer. If you go inland, you will find the real "arriere-pays" with its villages such as Eze (spectacular views over Monaco), Grasse (world capital of perfumery), St Paul de Vence (place for artists), Biot (glassworks). You are also only an hour drive from the mountains. Take a breath of fresh air at 2000m high at lunch and come back to have dinner on the seashore.
Nice / Vieux Nice area
The Vieux Nice has the charm of an old French Riviera town but, it is still genuine and full of life. Unlike other towns, the Vieux Nice is not just a museum or a "tourist place". When you go out of the building, you first see the beautiful place Rossetti. You can have a drink or even better, an ice cream at Fennochio (on your left-hand side), the best in town by far. Then, leaving the Cathedral on your right, you can have a 2-minute walk to Cours Saleya and discover one of the world's most famous open air markets. Depending on the day, you have the "normal market" where you can buy food, produce and typical nicois and italian products or you can have the "marché aux fleurs". All your senses will be awaken and you will be surrounded by flowers. In the morning, at lunch time, after the beach, in the evening, the Cours Saleya always has something exceptional to offer. The beach of the "Promenade des Anglais" is just one more minute away. When you get there, you have the "colline du Chateau" on your left where you can climb and see the whole city of Nice and the "Baie des Anges" at your feet. If you are courageous, you can climb by the stairway. If you a little bit tired, you can take the small train or the elevator. Nice is the beating heart of the Cote d'Azur. This is where the real people and the real activity is.
How to get there
- Fly to Nice airport Cote d'Azur - bus 98 (4 euros, 7km, 20 minutes) to Gare Routiere - 2 minute walk to Pont Vieux street, ask for "Place Rossetti". The building is the one close to the Pharmacy.

Further details outdoors: Rue du Pont-Vieux is one of the most central and charming streets of Vieux Nice: it is 5 minutes to Place Massena (the "official centre of Nice) but, as it is a pedestrian way, you feel you are in a different town . The apartment is just 10 meters away from Place Rossetti. Place Rossetti is where the Cathedrale Sainte-Reparate, the most beautiful baroque church in town, sits. Also, in less than 5 minutes walk, you can go to visit the palais Lascaris, make a short but "healthy" walk to the top of Chateau Hill, and ot get to the very picturesque Cours Saleya open air market and beaches. If you want to explore the Riviera or the inland, the Gare Routiere is 2 minutes walk.
Food will be a real delight. You can choose from the best options in town. If you want to dine out, the "maison de la pizza", the best pizza in Nice is in the opposite building. The famous Fenocchio, one of the top ice cream makers in France and the best in Nice, is 10 meters away. Cours Saleya, which hosts many al fresco restaurants offering every kind of cuisine until very late, is 200 meters away. Also, you will find many traditional restaurants featuring Nicois specialities like socca or raviolis, that you MUST try. If you want to take advantage of the Duplex kitchen, the open air market of the Cours Saleya, one of the world's most famous, offers you fresh local food every day such as vegetables, fruits, home made jams, cheeses, olives, breads and pastries.
