Apartment in historic centre
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Fully redecorated January 2010, this bright spacious apartment is situated bang in the middle of Nice's pedestrian old town, so no traffic noise!
Surrounded by bakeries, markets, small shops and restaurants - bustling by day but calm at night.
The flat is on the third floor, and the bedroom is tucked calmly away at the rear of the apartment ensuring a good night's sleep. It has a king size double bed, whilst the lounge sofa can also be converted to a comfortable double bed if required.
The flat can accommodate up to four people, but as there is no actual door between the bedroom and the lounge, privacy may be an issue for more than two people (depending on how well you know each other!).
The beach is a 5 to 10 minute stroll through the old town, and the airport à 4 Euro shuttle from the bus stop(a mere 200 meters from the flat).
From the bus station you can also get buses to just about any town in the region for 1€00 (including ski resorts in winter).
The nearest (brand new) tramway stop at 200 meters is far enough not to be heard, but within easy walking distance: it will carry you to the train station (Gare Thiers) or Nice's main shopping district (Jean Medecin) with ease.
Though in a traditional Nicois building, this apartment has been fully modernised to provide maximum comfort (see below).

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
The old city is the most picturesque areas of Nice and is sandwiched between the long beach and the Parc du Chateau, a large luxuriant municipal park built on the hill between the old town and the port.
In an environment of baroque architecture, you will discover colours and light of Cours Saleya with its famous Flower Market, the place Rossetti with its Italian atmosphere, the place du Palais ... but also the narrow streets, the " trompe-l'oeil " façades and the terraces in the shade of parasols, the numerous churches and the steps which lead up to the magnificent park of the chateaux.
The best way to discover all these treasures is on foot in order to fully appreciate the unique atmosphere which reigns in this neighbourhood. Nice is one of the sunniest places in France with over 300 days of sunshine a year. Temperatures reach 35 degrees in late July/Early August and rarely drop below freezing in winter.
Behind nice the alps rise steeply so fresh mountain air is only an hour's drive away (or in winter - skiing).
There are many museums and festivals in nice, most within walking distance of the apartment - for example, the both the Museum of Modern Art and the Palais Lascaris are less than a kilometre away.
The Cours Saleya market is a vibrant and enlivening sight every day Tuesday to Sunday (Mondays it is replaced by an antiques market), and in the evenings the streets of the old town are filled with the tables of the small restaurants and bars.
There are so many events it is impossible to list them all, please check the town's website for a full list:

"Spacious, central to old Nice, comfortable!"
A centrally located large apartment in old Nice with lots of character. The landlord warns prospective tenants about very steep steps(there are 42.) This is tiring after walking around all day, but we… More
Thanks so much for your review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in old Nice.
Best wishes and hope to see you again soon.
PS. I do try to supply a wide range of cleaning products and leave basic foodstuffs in the cupboards rather than throw them away, in the hope that they will be useful to arriving guests, but I may not always get the balance right, so following your comments, you'll be happy to hear that I'm in the process of fully cleaning out those cupboards! "Perfect location to explore Nice"
We stayed at Nick's apartment in Nice for a week and had a fabulous time. The apartment is located perfectly in the old city and is in the middle of activity yet it is quiet and peaceful. I can recommend this apartment to anyone. I should add that the WiFi worked well and it was nice to be able to use the telephone.

"Love the apartment and location."
We loved Nick's apartment in the old town so much, we've booked again for next July. It's in a great street which has every kind of shop you might need and a cafe straight across the road with good coffee. There's a fish market every morning in the little square, 20 yards down the street, a butchers and a cheese shop, and cake shops and well, everything, including a supermarket at the end of the street.
The apartment is very well equipped and furnished and perfectly placed for exploring Nice. The bus station is very close, making the transfer to and from the airport very easy.
Thanks so much! It was great to meet you. See you in July! Nick x
