The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Nice enjoys an average of 300 sunny days each year so is an ideal location for exploring the Riviera coastline or just soaking up the sun. With the beach on the doorstep and the mountains an hour away to the north it's no wonder that thousands of Britons have been attracted here since Victorian times, hence the world famous Promenade des Anglais which stretches out along the coastline.
Why not pop out to one of the local boulangeries for a croissant for breakfast, wander down to the old town to explore the plentiful fresh produce on offer, or buy a bunch of flowers at the colourful flower market? Pick up a portion of the local specialty, socca, before walking up to the château to enjoy a stunning of the coastline before an afternoon dip in the Med. That leaves the task of choosing which restaurant to go to for dinner!
If you want to explore further afield trips to Menton, Monaco, the perfume factories of Grasse and Eze, the stunning Jardins de Rothschild at St Jean Cap Ferrat, or the artists haunts of Vence and St Paul de Vence are all easily accessible by buses which only cost 1€. In Nice itself art lovers can enjoy the Matisse and Chagall museums, the Palais des Beaux Arts, or the Modern Art Museum which is only 100m from the apartment whilst children may enjoy a trip to Marineland at Antibes and the neighbouring water park. There really is something for everyone in Nice.
